I use what you’d call a 1999 burner phone.  Pay per minutes, put on more or not.  It gets talk,  voice mail, old-style texts, has a flashlight, and choice of four exciting color backgrounds.  IOW, it’s not on the internet, no WiFi.  I have a HotSpot + older iPad for internet, also, pay as I go.  Service is pretty sketchy in my area and most places I go.  The old cellphone works better than the Hotspot and tablet.  I keep the phone mainly for necessity and emergency.
