Matthew, did you write this forum software from scratch? Or base it on something? I like how lightweight it is, but a WYSIWIG editor would be nice, too.
It is the old MercuryBoard, which is now defunct.
But I've added a lot to it, since I'm a PHP developer. It's nice to be able to change things so easily.
THAT HAVING BEEN SAID, I eventually will be upgrading CathInfo to "SimpleMachines Forum", a currently maintained, very popular, free, forum software. There are lots of add-on features for it.
I played around with it most recently a couple months ago -- I figured out a lot of things I'd need to figure out before I could switch. For example, the Anonymous subforum I'd have to write a script to make all the posts anonymous. The present/future posts would be anonymous automatically. But all the past ones would be NOT anonymous unless I wrote a program to go through and set each one to anonymous.
There is also a feature for male/female specific subfora.
The best thing about SimpleMachines is that there is a plug-in that imports most things from Mercuryboard. I tested it, and subforums/posts/topics/PMs/users all get imported just fine. It takes a while, but it works!
But it would be a bit of a project to upgrade. I mean, I'd have to get everything set up and tested.
Nevertheless I have to do it sometime, before I lose my chance to upgrade. Once mercuryboard becomes "ancient" I'll lose my chance to jump into a currently-supported forum software.
Because there's no way I would ever switch software unless all 10 years of posts came with us. Ditto for the user database.
