question re: my new lenovo
« on: April 04, 2014, 04:09:19 PM »
I was given a new Lenovo G505 and it only has an audio port for headphones.  My old Lenovo Think Pad had both a headphone and a microphone port.  Is there any type of gizmo or gadget that will "split" that port so that I can use an external microphone?  I am technologically challenged and have no idea what to do.

Thanks,
Marsha

Most of the newer ports work both in and out, it's just a matter of configuration.
You may have to adjust it in settings.
Also googling or youtubing your question may give you better results.

Don't know if this is the one you'll need, but it's a start.

Thanks, that at least gives me something to start with.  I wasn't even sure what it would be called.

Yes, your laptop should have a dual jack, and that sort of splitter should, God willing, do the trick.
