Bitcoin is NOT anonymous, but “pseudonymous.” A dedicated opponent can use metadata and the careless re-use of wallet addresses to identify the owner of a transaction. Because Bitcoin is the most prevalent cryptocurrency, users have the same protection that one anchovy has when its school of anchovies is attacked by a predator.—Which one gets eaten first?

It takes knowledge, effort, and risk to buy Bitcoin anonymously and to “mix” it.

There are better designed cryptocurrencies that afford true “zero knowledge/zero trust” privacy, but they have much smaller user bases than Bitcoin, so those fewer “anchovies” make a more distinct target.

I recommend learning how to protect your privacy using VPNs, Tor, the dark net, and, yes, cryptocurrencies. Further, some of the best news sources are on the dark net, for example, deepdotnet DOT onion. To access that news aggregator, you’ll need Tor, but don’t use Tor unless you tunnel with a VPN. In fact, use Tor on a virtual machine on a hardened system and use one of the serious non-logging VPNs that you can buy with a "mixed" or anonymous cryptocurrency.

Another risk of course is that when there is no internet, the utility of cryptocurrency is nil. At that point, rely on precious metals, Au, Ag, and Pb.
