Title: microsoft acct question
Post by: Marlelar on March 13, 2018, 02:58:49 PM
I'm trying to set up a microsoft account and it asks for a cell phone number to text a verification to.  I don't have a cell phone. How can I do it without going out and buying a cell phone?

I tried their help line but there is no answer.

If you don't have a mobile [cell] phone, a possible option is via your computer.  If that is the case, the numbers appear on the computer screen and you can verify by pressing the numbers on your landline keypad.

Good luck!

Computer display is not an option either.  It seems odd that a person would have to have a cell phone in order to have a MS account, I know most people have them but not everyone does.  There must be an alternative that I'm missing.

Most places will give you the option of having a verification number sent by e-mail.  Not sure about Microsoft.
