How do the upvote / downvote buttons work on CathInfo?

    • Title pretty much says it. They were enabled some time ago, but now they're disabled for me. However other people seem to be able to still vote. What does this depend on? Posting volume?

    Because it can be pretty useful to just give a quick upvote on a post I like instead of writing replying with new post or not replying at all.

    • There's a formula involved. Keep posting, at some point the up/down vote function will start to work for you.

    • You could check with Matthew, but the most likely explanation is that it was accidentally activated for your account, later noticed, and switched off

    Yeah, that's probably it. I changed the number of posts required to be able to vote. It used to be low, like 10 or 20. Now it's closer to a century...
    Just keep posting, and you'll get there.
    I'm trying to discourage trolls *cough* CROIX DE FER *cough* from signing up again and again, and downvoting people before being banned.
    If it takes 100 posts, he'll probably out himself/cross the line/etc. before he ever gets to 100 -- then it's back to square one!

    That was a great move Matthew, but the best thing you’ve done was when you ban Croix, all of the downvotes he gave  are erased! I wonder how many days he’s wasted giving me, Ladislaus, and others all those 100s of downvotes. 😂

    • I was wondering the same, thanks.  It's kinda annoying being downvoted by someone without them giving so much as a reason why, and not knowing who downvoted so you can follow up with them.
