How do the upvote / downvote buttons work on CathInfo?

Title pretty much says it. They were enabled some time ago, but now they're disabled for me. However other people seem to be able to still vote. What does this depend on? Posting volume?

Because it can be pretty useful to just give a quick upvote on a post I like instead of writing replying with new post or not replying at all.

Same, they don't work for me either. Maybe disabled for Newbies? Although I've been here a while, I just don't talk much.

There's a formula involved. Keep posting, at some point the up/down vote function will start to work for you.

I used to be able to upvote/downvote, but it stopped working in the past few months.
