Title: Good cryptocurrency to invest in?
Post by: Cryptinox on April 16, 2021, 11:23:58 AM
I make $83 a week usually plus tips and I don't have to pay for a lot of basic expenses like insurance, mortgages, etc. I would like to know what cryptocurrency is good to invest in right now. My driving teacher was talking about how Doge Coin was 9 1/2 cents but it went all the way up to 45 cents earlier today.

That happens with IPOs, but only insiders can get into IPOs.

One could have cashed in on BitCoin, but then you could have lost a lot too, depending on when you invested.

Basically, it's gambling, a roll of the dice ... and not worth it.

No cryptocurrency is good to invest in.
.
If you have money to invest, buy stock in American corporations, ideally through index funds. (https://jlcollinsnh.com/stock-series/)

Seriously, someone on Cathinfo has that kind of *wealth*?

If you really have thousands of extra dollars sitting there (over and above a typical savings or "six month fund"), why not buy some land? Equipment? supplies? Tools?

You can't eat gold, or bitcoin. Once you're PREPPED to the nines, THEN you invest whatever you have left in physical gold, physical silver, maybe a bit of crypto. But most people don't make it that far. Buying and fitting out some acreage costs a lot of money; more than most Trads have.

He has $83 spare a week. He can't afford land or any serious investments; he's looking for high-risk high-reward investments that'll turn small savings into serious money.

Myself, I made a fair bit of money off of crypto a few years ago, but it was gambling. To underline just how volatile it was, in 2017 I chucked something like $30 into crypto and eventually through the crazy bull market later that year it was worth almost $1000. But then it crashed down to almost nothing. I forgot about it for a few years and then when I found my Ethereum lying around in 2020 it was worth $500(after a new bull market brought it back up). So it goes absolutely all over the place. And I got lucky for leaving my remaining investments in a "solid"(by crypto standards) currency. If I'd left it in almost anything else(99% of cryptos fail), I wouldn't have made that large profit, but instead my investment would've dwindled down to ZERO.

Point of the story is not to brag about how I got lucky(and believe me, it was luck. I had no idea what I was doing), but to show how volatile and unpredictable it all is. Especially right now that it's many months into a bull market, and so it could crash any moment. And you would be left with nothing. It might even be immoral to invest in crypto because of that, because it's almost closer to gambling than regular investing. I don't know, but if you are to invest, you need to do your own research and be really confident in whatever project you invest in. And even then, only invest what you can afford to lose. Remember, it's a lot more likely you'll end up wasting all that money than that you'll get rich off it or something.

I saw a good tip on Youtube (Spiffing Brit) (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRHXUZ0BxbkU2MYZgsuFgkQ). Basically follow @elonmusk on ƚwιƚƚeɾ, turn on notifications, and if he boosts dogecoin or another lesser crypto currency (dogecoin is very much a lesser one, it jumped a bit when Elon boosted and then fell back), buy a bit, and when it goes up a bit, just sell, don't wait, just bank a bit of growth. Don't get greedy. Bitcoin is quite acceptable as risky investments go, but transactions on it are registered publicly, it is very much not a crypto currency, except that it good enough as a way of giving money to people treated as lepers by the usual payment systems.

Lead prices have gone through the roof.  If you have a large stock you could be sitting on a fortune.

I usually get $83 for a paycheck in a week however I've been doing driver's ed and won't be working on Wednesdays. I already have $10 a week going into a Roth IRA account. However I still get a good amount of tips. usually $20 but this week I got $38.

A lot of them are run by evil people, but that doesn't mean it's a sin to buy stock or mutual funds.

You may want to consider investing through Vanguard mutual funds. You can use an investor or you can select funds yourself. So, it can be like day trading, but with mutual funds. If you want "out" then you can sell and store your money in their money market accounts so that you still earn interest. I started using Vanguard in 2020 - invested $160k and made $20k in 2 months, but got out once the market took a downshift as it scared many investors. I have stored remaining funds in a money market but may jump back in if the market continues its downshift..

I have not bought crypto - yet, but have interest in learning more.

Monero is near untraceable so with the rise of the beast system it may be necessary. Stack some gold, silver, Monero, ammo and food.  Link up with trads who are preppers and build skills in spare time. We are headed for a depression and you have a unique position in that you are young with the single vocation. Your mobility and ability to transform your life is a great asset. Unless you are already very good at investing do not buy crypto other than Monero.

I am a paying member of Crypto Vigilante, so I get Jeff Berwick's pics, tips, etc.  I only got into Bitcoin because a betting site I played around with more or less forced me into cashing out via Bitcoin.  Monero, Dero, Equilibria, and Pirate Chain are all highly recommended.  Berwick knows what he is talking about and has made a fortune.  Yes, they are getting hammered at the moment, but the show isn't over.  Still, lead, land, food and silver are vital; cryptos are more of a luxury item.

I thought about getting into Bitcoin only because there are some vendors I buy from that give you 20% discounts if you pay with Crypto.  I could never really figure out how to pay with it.  I tried to get on Coinbase but it didn't seem to work for me.  If I would use it to buy from vendors, I would just buy exactly what I need and then immediately use it to buy the product.  I don't feel like holding onto a bunch of it just to see it lose 10-20% by the next day and therefore negate my discount.

More and more, when I do have a bit of extra money, I've been trying to prep as well as I can ... since at this point even Stevie Wonder can see the economic crash coming.  If you had invested in food supplies, they've risen probably 20% in the past year.  That's a pretty good return even if you wanted to just sell it now.

I just think that when things crash, nobody's going to really accept anything in exchange for the scarce food that might be available.  IMO the best currency in crash times would actually be ... cigarettes.

Because imo, the risk is so great with all crypto, it's better to stay away, but if you're going to get into it at all, I would say put the minimum at risk on a cheap crypto and just let it ride.

It sounds like you plan to hold for very long term anyway, so let's say you put $80.00 at risk on SHIB, which at this moment is at .00001165, this means your $80 buys you about 6,866,952 shibs. If it ever gets to a penny, that $80 will be worth almost $69,000.00, or almost $69 million if it ever gets to a dollar. This "strategy" is pretty much what many of the "bit coin billionaires" did.

The worst that can happen is SHIB goes to zero and you lose $80, but in 10 years or whatever if it goes to a half a penny, or a penny or more, you will cash in huge.

I opened an account with Coinbase Pro (https://pro.coinbase.com/trade/SHIB-USD) about 8 months ago, it took all of about 10 minutes and I was good to go. The advice I gave you is what I actually did, I put in about $100, which I am willing to loose, and got almost 4 million of the things, at the moment they're only worth about $64.00.

I'm losing so much money in stocks and crypto  I learned it the hard way and think it's the best to stay away from them. But I think ETF is a safer way to invest if you have to. And there's this:

Also for those invest online for preparation for economic crackdown: what if the whole internet system cracks down too? All the money in form of 0 and 1 will be gone. I'd like to learn about anything that we can invest in real life that actually will last.

Having started mining when BTC was at US$300, I just can't imagine buying in (or mining in) at US$30,000±. Sure BTC could go to US$250,000 as some have predicted, but it could as easily tank—or be EMP'd into uselessness. Agree completely about precious metals (incl. Pb), land, food, and silver. I was amused and taken by Steve Barry's comment in the 90's Resister that, "Every time they piss me off, I buy another case of ammo." [slightly paraphrased]

I prefer the truly anonymous cryptocurrencies (e.g., XMR, ZEC, DASH), but they are even less widely used than pseudonymous BTC.  I now think of crypto transactions as (1) gambling and (2) a tool for moving value across borders. Because of that I haven't kept current with the new crypto.

Monero I know well (and mine), but what's the scoop with Dero, Equilibria, and Pirate Chain? pros? cons? anonymous?

Has Berwick commented on XRP?
