The sidebar shows we have 5050 (non-banned) members, and that's true.

HOWEVER, if you want to make apples-to-apples comparisons with other forums, you need to look at the raw number of members. The latest member is #8002.

Years ago, when I was on cheapo "shared hosting", I took it as a professional challenge as a software developer to make the site as streamlined and optimized as possible, so I could stay on cheap shared hosting just a bit longer. So I deleted a couple thousand inactive members to try to "speed up" the website. I also regularly purged the upvotes/downvotes database, and other similar moves.

But also, SMForums software (used by CathInfo) doesn't count banned users in the Total Members -- while every other forum software DOES.

Just wanted to throw that out there, as an FYI.
