Anyone use a Tracfone?

  • I still have 3 months left on my service  plan but need more minutes. I bought a tracfone card to add 200 minutes but noticed it also adds 90 days to service plan.

Is this the right way to add time or is there a better way...maybe without adding service time?  Am I hurting myself by adding days to plan before my year is up?

Any help with how to navigate this sort of cell phone plan would be appreciated!

  • My family has two tracfones. I have the opposite problem. I always run out of service time but have too many minutes. I was looking for a way to buy service time without adding more minutes.

Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • I have one, but that doesn't mean I've figured it out. : /

But, I don't think there's any downside to adding the 90 days. I usually have Matto's problem in that I run out of days but still have plenty of minutes/texts/data. I now have it set up to automatically add days (and service time) when it runs out.

  • I have one from 2006!  It does the basics, voice, text, pics., records sound, films, but no internet. I bought a "double minutes" with it, so whe never I add data, the minutes double.  I add data by going to their website and using PayPal.  I don't know if this is helpful.

Glad I'm not the only one!  However, I wonder whether I am making this more complicated than it needs to be.

For me, I rarely use data and I am on schedule with the texts.  My minutes are very low because of my calls to my mom.  I speak to her easily 60-75 minutes per week.  Adds up quickly.

I know that this plan (plus the fact that I got a smartphone out of it) saves us a lot of money compared to the prior Verizon plan with a monthly fee, but I am still getting used to it.
