I came across this, presumably someone from Generation Z or the "Zoomer" generation. He made some good points. It rang true with me, it really spoke to me for some reason:

I fear that our generation will leave behind no history. We have nothing of value to show our children, no physical photo albums, no heirlooms. Our generation has basically thrown out all of that, and as a result we have nothing but a worthless collection of digital selfies, some unwatchable marvel movies, and some dead old iphones to show our kids about what life was like when we were growing up. We haven't really created anything new ourselves or cherished anything, instead filling our lives with mass-produced uninteresting disposable junk. History will forget us and we will leave no legacy, because we have nothing of value to say and no identity of our own.

It's an interesting idea. I agree: there will be no misty-eyed nostalgia about the 2010s or 2020s the way we have now for the 80's/90's. Those decades at least had a lot of personality, a distinct culture, and created a lot of unique things. All you'll get about these recent decades is a collective groan and "let's not talk about it, mmmkay?"

Knowing you have a problem is half the battle.  Gen Z has most of their life left to live and if they realize that up til now it’s been a waste, what a potentially-fantastic realization.  Hit rock bottom then improve your life!
