Would it be Possible to Make a Clone of Jesus?

  • Do you think it would be possible to make a clone of Jesus and bring God back to the earth a second time? To do this one would get Jesus's DNA from one of the Eucharistic miracles and insert the DNA into a woman's egg and plant the second Christ child into a woman's womb and then we would have a clone of Jesus. Obviously this would be wrong, but do you think it would be possible?
    R.I.P.
Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • Matto. There are some things that should not be said even in jest.

Bud, I mean this with all due respect:
    No.
Christ is Risen! He is risen indeed

    Matto,
In my humble opinion this is blasphemy, against our Lord, his holy Mother and the Blessed Eucharist.
There is something terribly wrong here. I am praying for you.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

I agree with others on the thread. Anyone pushing for or attempting this would be guilty of blasphemy. Is nothing sacred to you?

I really don't know where to begin with this. There is SO MUCH wrong with it.

What have you been smoking? What is the matter with you?

  • 1. Our soul is not our DNA. If it WERE possible to inject my DNA into some egg, fertilized egg, etc. so as to "hijack it" and make a perfect copy of me -- it still wouldn't be me. My soul is right here typing this. It is unique. There is no such thing as downloading your consciousness into a computer, etc. NOR CAN THERE BE. One's soul is not reduceable to 1s and 0s. It is a real spiritual substance.

    2. Jesus (including the Blessed Sacrament and Eucharistic miracles) is not a suitable "guinea pig" for a Frankenstein style mad scientist experiment. This is one of the reasons your idea is blasphemous.

    3. You think you can force the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity to pay us a visit, or what? The Blessed Sacrament and the Real Presence isn't good enough for you? Again, blasphemous.

    4. You suggest creating another Jesus in a test tube basically -- and in the womb of a surrogate woman who was NOT always free from Satan's control, who was not only born in Original Sin but also committed countless actual sins (venial? mortal?) during her girlhood and teen years -- and you didn't even mention this surrogate mother's virgin status! I don't know which would be worse -- Jesus being formed in the womb of a woman who wasn't a virgin before his conception, or a woman who would cease to be a virgin sometime AFTER the birth. Talk about violating a Sanctuary! Think about that one. In short -- blasphemy.

    5. Jesus took flesh once. The Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity was united with that Person, Jesus Christ. You can't clone the Holy Trinity. That is madness.

You need to watch more butterflies (referring to your signature line), take your medicine, or something. Because these thoughts are NOT good, NOT sane, and CERTAINLY not holy!

  • Cloning Jesus is not something I say should be done, obviously is would be a horrible sin, I just thought of the idea for some reason and wondered if it would be possible. It was just a random thought I had before going to bed.

    I am sorry.

  • Like Matthew alluded to, a clone would only have the physical characteristics of Jesus.  Not his human soul and it certainly wouldn't be a divine person. That being said, I have often wondered if the Antichrist would be a clone using Jesus' DNA from the shroud.

  • Why would God create an immortal soul for a clone?  If, and it is a big if, modern science is ever able to clone a human, I don't believe the creature created would have a soul of any more value than any brute animal.  Perhaps the creature would be able to be taught many things, but I doubt very much it would ever advance any further than the smartest dog or ape.  And if it turns out that our ability to speak and communicate is merely physical, then the clone will have no ability to have a moral compass any more than Bobo the Gorilla had.

For the same reason he creates an immortal soul for a test tube baby.

A "test tube baby" is a real and unique human being.  A clone is a merely a copy.  I don't think the individuals produced by the two utterly different procedures can be equated in any way--even in purely human terms.

You are forgiven Matto, but in reparation, you've need to pray a Rosary for all of us on Cathinfo.

Not directed at you personally, but the formulation of the question reminds me of the Jєωιѕн mindset.

The devil's children think they can imitate God.

Replicating Our Lord's DNA would be equivalent to hijacking Divinity.

But only the Jєωs would think they could do it.
"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

  • Matto clearly meant no disrespect, folks.  He was asking a hypothetical that, when answered correctly, such as by Matthew above, leads to some insight into the relationship between the physical body, the animal soul, and the immortal soul.  DNA is simply a blueprint for physical characteristics.  Such a clone would not have the original animal soul of Our Lord, much less his human soul or Divine Person.  Now, since this DNA is that of Our Lord, it would be a grave sacrilege to attempt this, and I believe God would prevent such an evil.  But I have heard speculation that Antichrist would actually be a demonic in dwelling of such a clone.

I think you folks missed the “Obviously this would be wrong” part of Matto’s post.

  • You’d create the Anti-Christ.  Matto, every thought that comes into one’s mind need not be voiced.  In fact most thoughts that come into most people’s minds should not be voiced.  This thought in particular does not come from the Holy Ghost.
I’m going to suggest that Matthew delete the entire thread.
    I regret having read it.
I’m saying a few prayers for you as soon as I hit post.
