    • That is one rough poem. 
    I hope he read it, and takes the time to sit with his wife and gently guide her, and also find out why she is feeling like this.

    • Not sure what she's expecting him to do, she needs to get over herself. Having an infant is tough, but it doesn't last forever.

    150 years ago people would have just laughed at her, but today because of our culture her whiny "poetic" rants make her 'brave', which in turn causes her to resent her spouse even more over something he doesn't have much control over.

    Look, your husband doesn't have boobs with milk, what do you want from him? Quit whining. Women like this should be slapped in the face.

    • I didn't listen to the video but long enough to hear her voice and accent. That said, TODAY, there are men who are not the primary providers, they actually are basically living off the woman. The babies are bottle fed. They have one child, maybe, two.

    In a trad Catholic family, the man is the sole provider, the woman takes care of the children, the house,  some even the homeschooling, and babies are breast fed.

    Two totally different scenarios.

    To be honest, English doesn't imply any percentage of women in that sentence.

    There is an assumed [some] at the beginning of the sentence.

    To remove the ambiguity, you could include "a few", "some", "most" or "all" at the beginning of the sentence. But in English, if you leave that detail out, "a few" or "some" is assumed.

    Well, if we're being picky technical, her statement that this thread only proves ONE (singular) WOMAN vs. the thread title WOMEN (plural) is correct.  This video is the opinion of one woman.

    • If we're being really fair, it should be noted that the author said the poem was written in jest (although inspired by a stressful night) and that she laughed about it with her husband the next day.

    As to those women who were agreeing with her sentiments, I'd want to know whether or not they have to work the next day before I'd be too critical. The author, while not exactly a stay-at-home mom, was on maternity leave and had agreed to take care of the baby at night until her maternity leave ended. So, perhaps the poem is just foreshadowing what she'll be thinking in a couple of months.

    The idea that men should help care for the baby of course goes hand-in-hand with the idea that women should be proving half the income.

    • Our first child suffered with intense colic.  I don't think I slept for about 6 months.  I was at a meeting at work and fell asleep sitting there in my chair, to notice people snickering as I snapped out of it.  Unless the father finds some cave in which to seclude himself, he'll be awoken by the baby's night-time antics as much as the mother.  So I'm not sure that this is even a real issue.

    Other than though necessity (for example following bereavement) I guess it was when feminists started telling women that motherhood was beneath them !

    Haha!  My husband can sleep through anything.  One night 2 children threw up all over our bedroom carpet...and me, while I was IN the bed...and he slept right on through.  Even with the sick baby crying.  Unless maybe he was faking.... :furtive:
