Catholicsm brings out the best in women. All other civilisations reduced/reduce women to the status of a slave, and the behavior of women today is powerful witness to why this is the case.

Whilst non Christian men such as Marcus Aurelius had the natural understanding on how a virile society runs for the common good, I can think of no such feminine equivalement. Without Christianity, women are too prideful and selfish to make decisions that result in the common good.

Without Christ, women nag, abort, divorce, overspend, belittle men and make the world a miserable place. in this post Christian society, men are tolerating this behavior...for now. But as all of womens' percieved freedoms, come from men having allowed this, they are still, without understanding this, under mens power.

There are only two possible outcomes. One that women rechristianise, or that they are once again reduced to slave status.

Yes modern woman is ultimately a slave. Cursed be the boomer fathers that let this happen to their daughters.

There are very good points given here about modern women. I wish to ask a question, and this is not meant to provoke, I am being quite sincere.

I share the same view regarding modern women, of course, because one could not be a truly traditional Catholic and at the same time approve of what modern women are doing. But why is it that women were able to overcome the more stable, Christian influence of men that the world had known for centuries? In other words, what weakness was there in men that allowed this to happen?

It seems to me that the way to truly reverse the course, is to encourage the men in their fatherly duties with their daughters, and in their duties as husbands to their wives. There is the role of priests as well, to be firm with women when necessary.

I have tried to help women with modesty, for instance, believing it would perhaps be better received from a fellow woman, but the only ones I have been able to influence for the better are girls under 18. How touching it was to witness their zeal for God's glory and for purity. They immediately threw out their trousers and would only wear skirts both at home, and at Mass, and did so joyfully.

The crises in the Church has caused not just a doctrinal problem but also a perversion of nature. These are two separate distinct things.

Modern society is doing things that not even pagan societies of old did.

A woman is formed by her father who puts limits on her behavior on a natural level. Then the doctrinal guidance of the Church when it is Catholic, supports the natural law. But with both gone, it's total chaos. Only those with a special grace get through.

Very rare are the people in tradition today who have been traditional all the way. Most of us got a special grace.

A father of a traditional Catholic family can do a lot, but he is limited by the zeal of his wife, the situation he finds himself in financially, and the society he lives in. In a normal society the wider society and the Church would support him. So good fathers are up against it.

If this forum does one thing, it is let each other know we are not alone, that there are others out there struggling just like we are. It gives consolation to men trying to lead, and to women trying to preserve and be good mothers.

Very insightful replies, thank you.

Fabiola is a really wonderful book to read that among other things, reveals the stark contrast between pagan women and Catholic women in the early Christian era. The pride and vanity of the one, and the purity and humility of the other. It's a truly beautiful story.

Although it is historical fiction, Cardinal Wiseman (the author) knew well, from knowledge of history, how to describe the customs and culture of the time. It is intended as a recreational read, that is at the same time extremely edifying, I wish more people would read it.

Wow.

“I consider it certain, that God will never permit the devil to deceive any soul which places no confidence at all in herself, and is strengthened in her faith so firmly, that she would die a thousand deaths for the least article thereof; and this love for her faith (and it is a strong and lively faith), infused into her immediately by God, always induces her to act in conformity with what the Catholic Church holds and teaches, like one who is so deeply persuaded of the truth, that all possible revelations which could be imagined, not even if she saw the heavens opened, could make her vary in the least point from the doctrine of the Church.”

— St. Teresa of Avila, Autobiography, Chapter XXV (She treats of the way how those words and speeches are to be understood, which God communicates to the soul without any voice or sound being heard)
