Are there any fellows out there that might know of any entry level, on-the-job training positions in one of the following trades: HVAC/R, Commercial Refrigeration, Plumbing or Electrical, preferably in the St. Mary's/Topeka, Orlando/Sanford or Post Falls areas?  THANK YOU in advance for any info.

Talk about wishful thinking!  How many men moving to St. Mary's wish they could find work like that. Not just any kind of gainful employment -- but employment where someone can be trained in a new field on-the-job. Not just looking for an apprenticeship anywhere, but in one of the headquarters of Traditional Catholicism.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I do know several families that just aren't cut out for homeschooling. The woman especially needs to be "up for it" -- many are not. Many would prefer to move close to an SSPX headquarters where school can be taken care of without sending children to public school or going through the immense effort of homeschooling.

Anyhow, I think anyone wishing to move to St. Mary's needs to be a "work from home" sort -- some kind of job where you can earn your money from anywhere. A job where you produce creative works of various sorts (graphics, music, computer programs, websites, crafts, dresses, books, eBooks, blog content, CDs) or a job involving Internet sales and marketing, selling things on eBay, etc.

I wish this man the best of luck, but he's really going to need it. If I were him, I wouldn't hold my breath. If there were (1) such opportunity, there would be 100 young men willing to fill it -- I exaggerate not.

Actually, the man in question is not in his 20's either. He has at least 4 children that I know of. Would they train a thirtysomething and not someone much younger, who might be able to work for less? Another challenge for this man.

I acknowledge that he's willing to work to support his family, which is a good thing, but I just wanted to point out that his chances are slim to none. It's a shame, but that's the way it is.

I agree, it sure is wishful thinking - I wish him the best of luck!
