  • IF, hermitry hath great rewards - and VERY low overhead!

Should you not find your own Miss Alabama/flying nun combo pack to wed, you will be most blessed, indeed.

Re-read St. Paul.  Then keep re-reading him.  And then re-read him some more!

This is a serious question. It is something I would consider doing.

  • And, IF, since you asked, not even wealthy ranchers of old were immune to the many wiles and scams which define mail order wenchdom....

Here's 10 minutes guranteed to put you back on the straight and narrow!

  • What about a mail order bride is desirable? Somehow I don't see many traditional Catholic women signing up to be mail order brides. If it's a traditional Catholic woman you're looking for, I don't think you'll find one there. Are you going to marry someone who isn't Catholic? Do you plan on trying to convert her once you marry? Sounds like an imprudent idea any way you slice it.

Yes I am looking for a traditional Catholic woman. There are some mail-order brides who are Catholic, but most aren't. I doubt any of the ones who are practice the Faith regularly but who knows. Does the Church permit a Catholic to marry a non-Catholic?

Some say that one of the advantages of a mail-order bride is that they are still in the old school mindset. They take care of the home really well as well as the kids. Whereas, americanized woman are carrying these values less and less these days.

  • There's a distinction between getting a "mail order bride" and looking overseas for a bride.

I know of a fairly tall, not fat, highly intelligent, New Zealander, a bald fellow, with a good career in computer programming, a couple years younger than me, who ended up married to a rather plain Korean girl in a Catholic church after moving to Korea.

If a guy with a high IQ and a good job who is tolerable to look at has to go overseas to get a wife, things are bad.

They're bad because of pro-feminist mindset of most religious groups and the total permeation of society with the immorality of tv and movies.

There's TraditionalSingles and SSPXSingles, but the websites are pretty much dead.

On CatholicMatch, you can narrow your results to find girls who attend only the traditional Latin Mass, but even then it doesn't guarantee you that the woman/man is orthodox and traditional.

Maybe CathInfo should have its own dating board...  :dancing-banana:

You're probably asking the wrong person in regards to knowing wether the Church permits a Catholic to marry a non-Catholic. Honestly, it is a non-issue for me so I haven't looked into it much. I would never consider a non-Catholic, nor would I consider someone who wasn't serious about their faith. If given the choice between spinsterhood and a marriage with a non-Catholic, I would choose spinsterhood, as I think that would be better for my eternal salvation.

I'm pretty sure the Church allows Catholics to marry non-Catholics, but there are stipulations that follow it. That's the modern church, though... the traditional understanding may be completely different. Maybe someone could shed some light on that for us??

And about mail order brides being more oldschool in regards to keeping house and raising children, please don't bank on that. I don't think it's true. I've heard way more horror stories about mail order brides than I have success stories.

  • This is a serious issue, I have often wondered how "Trads" could find each other?  All of the chapels I have visited have had a very limited number of single young adults. This is an opportunity the SSPX missed.  They could have been having semi-annual conferences geared specifically for unmarried people in order to give traditional wo/men of marriageable age the opportunity to meet one another.

I.F. - if you go to a traditional chapel you should talk with your priest about the proper way to go about finding a spouse.

The SSPX apparently has a lot of red tape for getting married.

I'm hopeful the resistance priests will be much more reasonable.
