Pants are Pants, Catholic Women should not wear them, it was one of the first things I was told when I came to tradition in my Pants! I understand women now see this as not a huge thing, but really it is, it comes down to Pride, we don't want to be told what to do, when my children refused to give up Pants, I likened it to, 'Non Serviam'

Not exactly, I've been a traditional Catholic my entire life and our priest has never promoted something along these lines. However, all of the priests I have attended masses of have always promoted modesty in dress and comportment, they have just also always made the distinction between fanaticism as well. I can assure you this is not a "non serviam" thing.

God bless the good traditional Catholic women who never wear pants. They are not fanatics who want to burn saints at the stake! They are just trying to act like feminine women and save their souls. Just like the good traditional Catholic women who are submissive to their husbands and those who don't go to public beaches and those who don't go to dances and those who do not watch modern movies or television because they would rather please God than the world.

I agree with nctradcath, it is fruitless to argue with them incessantly. However, there have been some excellent posts in this thread explaining why women should not be wearing pants. The notion that it's alright for women to be wearing pants as a daily habit should always be resisted to a certain degree for the sake of truth. I don't see the women arguing for pants on this thread changing any time soon, though I pray they do. It's dangerous business, choosing your own way despite the warnings of saints and other pious men and women of ages long past and not so long past. Pride goes before the fall.

PS, Catarella- excellent post. I wish I had your way with words!

Definitely. Good traditional Catholic women are not fanatics who want to burn ppl at the stake. They want to act like feminine women and save their souls.

So when I said: "I wear skirts strictly in imitation of Our Lady, but it is a real penance to have lost the freedom I enjoyed in pants. IMHO," I got three thumbs down. The controlling nature of some traditionals is ever present, often wildly missing the point, condemning for the sake of condemning. Its no wonder more folks dread returning to Godly ways, because the good has been overshadowed with bitterness.

The normal pants that women don today really aren't something to inspire immodesty. Mostly they inspire an urge to look the other way immediately. The pants have such a low rise that seeing the woman's two buttocks and the always ugly tattoo above her "crack". It really is nasty. Today's pants usually inspire repulsiveness. The stretch pants that others mention is primarily to highlight really finely defined legs of women who are attractive but immodest. When worn by chubby girls, stretch pants just look really sloppy.

Who, besides gαy men, find the butt crack rising above the waist of pants and the always too short shirt attractive? Who other than gαy men find a person's buttcrack attractive?

Is there actual proof that St Joan of Arc wore pants? Perhaps this notion comes from artwork celebrating her.

Also, what was the reason of her enemies for burning her at the stake? Was it because she was wearing pants?

You seem to be overplaying the St Joan wore pants angle.

St Catherine of Sienna warned that following a Pope could cause her to lose her soul but this doesn't mean following the Pope will cause you to burn in Hell.

There is a 1928 movie that followed the transcripts of St Joan's trial. I don't remember them harping on the pants. I don't remember pants being mentioned at all.

As for the quote about the wind blowing the dress up and exposing all - don't be silly, everyone knows that under their dresses girls have knee length bloomers.

Can you quit pretending that St Joan was burned at the stake for wearing pants? Please. This is ridiculous and historically false.

St Joan was killed for a variety of reasons - mostly political, as she was part of an army. They used her pants wearing as evidence that she was 'delusioned' and 'crazy', but they also said the same thing about her visions.

The govt that put her to death wasn't very catholic and they were looking to win a war. Had NOTHING to do with her wearing pants.

Also, there is nothing fanatical about preaching that women avoid pants. ONE priest may have made an argument, and a few protestants on the internet, but NO CHURCH AUTHORITY, EVER, has said it was 'permissable', 'good', 'pious' or 'moral' for women to wear pants.
