  • I was at the car dealership getting work done on my car today and they had CNN on. They had a story on about this college woman that's a porn star. After the story the female anchor was all bubbly and proclaimed, "I have been married for 10 years and I proudly say that I watch porn with my husband to get in the mood! It's really good for that!"

And that's why I never watch CNN...After this I closed my eyes and said my Rosary.

  • And you do good to your soul avoiding it. I don't ever watch TV anymore. After learning about who controls it, I am not interested in watching it at all. What for? everything presented is worldly, biased, and anti-Christian.
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

  • It's all about making evil the norm. I don't just mean CNN; I mean all the mass media.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • It's all about impressing thousands of little things on your mind so that you will never form your own viewpoint. It's the perfect way to get people to accept anything. Smut, murder, rape, and drugs for example.

  • Why watch TV at all.  It is utter crap and packed with advertising which is a huge waste of time.

YouTube and StageVU.com are the way to go since you have an Internet connection.

I watch old movies like Laurel and Hardy, Jimmy Stewart, Cagny, Foreign films, docuмentaries

  • I found this interesting.  Particularly the mind experiment with the Ping pong balls.

  • There are a few shows I watch but I do love my sports...NASCAR, baseball, football and hockey I can't live without.

TV is no more evil than say...the internet!

  • The internet is much worse if one lacks self-control. And we all do. There are a wider variety of evils to choose from.

  •  :tv-disturbed:
    Agree. I haven't owned a TV since about 1981.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • I believe TV is worse. While the Internet can be worse or as bad for some, it certainly isn't for all. Sure, I might have a lack of self-control on the Internet, but all that amounts to is spending too much time reading CathInfo when I should be attending to something else. That's not nearly as bad as being subjected to whatever the TV decides to throw at me.

Generally speaking, you have control over what you read / view on the Internet (even video ads on YouTube can still be skipped after a few seconds) while you have very little control over what you view on "live" TV.

I do use the internet to watch some TV programs, but the absence of advertising is a huge improvement even if the program itself is still getting its chance to paste it's point of view on my brain.

  • It is a necessity to function in society to have an idea of REAL news and events going on around us.

However, these news outlets are so biased with drivel and sodomy agendas it's quite difficult to filter out and find the real news.

I don't think news is necessary. I do without it and am fine. The only news I get is from Catholic websites and that isn't very much.
