  • A. Bring their Cell phone into Church?

    B. Bring over-sized metal Accessories into Church that keep scratching the pews?

    C. Neglect to genuflect when they are supposed to?

    D. Let their kids Scream so close to the outside of the Church before Mass?

I have been a Traditional Catholic for about three and ½ years. The first 2 years I attended Mass, I have not once heard a cell phone go off, but,  in the the past 18 months I have head a cell phone go off on about four different occasions.

The first 2 years I attended Mass, I barely noticed any large scratches in the pews but now most of the Pews have scratches.

The first 2 years I attended Mass I never heard kids playing so loudly so close to the outside of the Church and now I have heard loud kids while waiting for confession on a several occasions.

I once had to use the small restroom in the Church basement and the adult using the restroom didn't have the door to the restroom shut all the way and the bathroom stall door was also open.  :fryingpan:

WHAT IS GOING ON. TRADITIONAL CATHOLICS SHOULD EXERCISE MORE COMMON SENCE AND PROPER CHURCH MANNERS.

  • Cell phones don't belong in churches. Recording devices don't belong near Confessionals.

Perhaps some repeated warnings in the bulletin?

My Priest has also had to warn people to not cut in front of the elderly after they have received communion. This should be common sense.

As long as it's turned off, I don't see a problem.  If it is purposely left on, I share your frustration.

I'm not sure I know what you're talking about.

    C. Neglect to genuflect when they are supposed to?

"Supposed to" is subjective.  I do not believe there have ever been strict rules regarding the posture of the laity during Mass; I believe it is mere custom.  If a person flat-out refuses to ever genuflect to the Blessed Sacrament, then I agree there is a problem.

    D. Let their kids Scream so close to the outside of the Church before Mass?

If they are outside of the church building, I'm not sure you have any room to complain.  Even a scream here or there inside of the church building is going to happen no matter what when you are dealing with children.

They should be turned off, however, everyone forgets now and again.  Perhaps the ushers should remind people as they are walking into church.

Again, I'm really not sure what you are referring to here.

If the children are outside, then you really have no room to complain, in my opinion.

Perhaps he should have been more careful, and perhaps you should be more forgiving.

More people have been bringing coats and purses with huge metal accessories into Church which have been scratching many of the pews.

Kids used to play further away from the Church building.

I never saw any of these issues the first 18 months I attended this church.

  • I don't know where you live or hear Mass, but the annoyances you mention are a symptom of the loss of common sense, common courtesy, self-denial, and connection to reality.  People are increasingly ignorant because the last generation to have a grasp on reality is speeding into the grave.  Make corrections where you can taking care to exercise charity.  MOST of my first-graders in a tuition charging school arrive without the bare basics.  Words like "Please, than you, excuse me, Yes, Sir, No, Ma'am are new vocabulary.  A sense of order, hierarchy, respect for authority, reverence for God, and modesty are largely absent.  We who have been blessed with civility must teach our cruder trads.
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

  • As far a genuflecting, some people have serious back or knee problems which prevent kneeling or genuflecting. And it isn't only necessarily very elderly people with these problems. Don't be so quick to judge. However, if there is a large number of people who are not genuflecting, you might ask your priest if he has noticed it.

As far as the noisy kids-- it has never failed to amaze me that, since all Catholics are expected to attempt to have as many children as God will allow, they are so quick to complain about the distractions that children sometimes cause. But perhaps a particularly unruly family has joined your chapel lately. If it is that serious, the priest will have to speak to them.
