One of my salesmen had a women in his office yesterday wanting to lease a brand new Focus. As he was reviewing her credit application he noticed she was on social security disability. He remarked that she didn’t look disabled and unable to work. She said well I'm really not, I could work if I wanted to but I make more now then I did when I was working and got hurt.(non-disabling injury)

She said the government pays her $1500 a month for her ‘disability’. In addition to that, she gets $700 a month on an EBT card (food stamps) and $800 a month for rent. Oh yeah, and 250 minutes free on her phone. That’s $3000 a month (not counting the free telephone minutes) or $36,000 a year.

Before disability, she was working and taking home about $330 per week - over $17,000 a year. What’s wrong with this picture? Just do the math. Why the hell should she go back to work? If you multiply this scenario by millions of people you start to realize the scope of the problem we face in this country today. Once Obama and his acolytes have 51% of the population in this same situation, guess what? We’re finished.

The question is when do we cross that threshold (if we haven't already.)

A car salesman who would bs someone...??? Come on! Well, if that really was the case, I think she could sue the dealer as it was none of his biz, but what he should do is take her money and get another car off the lot. After all, the dealer is getting back what he/she paid in taxes for that bum. And that is how the liberal mind thinks...not my suggestion, but how I've heard a liberal opine. Another of his famous rants is this: Drive down the free way with a passenger in the back of the car throwing out big bags of trash. That way the state can put out the chain gang of prisoners to pick it all up and any other trash littering our beautiful country side. Now doesn't that make a whole lot of sense? Well, to a liberal it does!

Also, who's 'his' in "another of his famous rants"? I think you meant the liberal but then maybe not. Maybe it means the car salesman. Confusing post.

The 2012 Index of Dependence on Government, released today, should be a wake-up call for America. Published by The Heritage Foundation for the past 10 years, the Index tracks the growth in government dependence dating back to the early 1960s. This year’s edition shows an alarming trend. its by design.....first, dumbed and ruin Indians....then Blacks, now whites......Hispanics are iffy, sort in middle right now, asians are industrious, but since most are pagans, they are largely already on the plan of :devil2:

I see welfare daily, more and more first time appliers for services and more and more, educated ones with decent incomes at one point.....now, disabled, crushed by debt, mainly medical care and out of work or too old to get anything and too old to dig a ditch......poverty and degradation, by design.......

we do not do anything, because its easier to play the false games we are given to play to keep us "kids" busy and occupied......

It just sounds "too bad to be true" like it's typical Republican e-mail forward urban legend nonsense.

I don't think the government gives out "free rent", or there wouldn't be any homeless or tent cities. They have Section 8 housing, which is where you can go any time of day or night to do a drug deal, to give you some idea of how safe those areas are.

And if she gets so much for Food Stamps and a "blank check" for rent wherever she wants to live, why do they give her a $1500 replacement income (disability)? Is that supposed to be "fun money"? That doesn't make sense.

That government isn't that generous.

I don't work for the government or social services, though, so I can't say with the certainty I usually have on this forum (about matters of Faith, etc.)

It also doesn't mention that she has any children. A single woman getting $700 in food stamps sounds like a lot. And there's a good chance she doesn't have any/more than 1 child if she's buying a Ford Focus. Have you ever driven/rode in one? If it were any smaller, it would be a 2-seater. The biggest selling point for the Focus is its 40 MPG fuel economy.

There is subsidized housing (what we used to call projects) and there is Section 8 which is a voucher program where the family picks the house or apartment. The wait lists are usually very long and in many areas they are not accepting applications at all. I believe it's based on 30% of the income and the minimum for someone with no income is a low figure like $25. (I'm not sure what it is exactly.)

That food stamp amount would be for a family of 5 or 6. A single woman with no dependents having an income of $1500 month would not be getting any food stamps.

Kids get all school supplies , locks, yearbook, gym suits, field trips and meals free, if they qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Parents get a Link/EBT Card or Wic vouchers or both. This is a credit card that buys groceries like food stamps. WIC handles formula cereal milk and food associated with infants and babies.

Free Cell phones with 200 ? onthly minutes handed out of a Township truck.

Many on public aid have better clothes and fancier cars than my working class.

Oh, and we must give the kids the full platter of breakfast or lunch, even if they don;t want it, so they are forced to throw it out after. Such waste.

WIC is only for pregnant women and children under 5.

The telephone credit is part of a program that started under Regain, lifeline assistance. The cell phone companies provide the phone and the citizen receives a credit of minutes every month.

It varies from state to state but you cannot own a car over a certain value in some places and still receive food stamps.

GWB made it so you can have an unlimited amount in a retirement account or educational account and it not disqualify someone from food stamps.

Food at school is part of national security. One of the reasons for it is so we will have enough recruits that can pass the physical standards.

Not sure about the divide is between "working class" and those on aid, most of those on public assistance do work.

I live in Chicago--the more on public assistance the better the voter numbers for the democratic party, so rules are pretty flexible, or broken, because the cars are flashy and pretty and better than most of the staff too.

I don't care which presidents or parties made the public aid trough larger--I feel that the growth of public aid has ruined families and churches and made for abusers. I work hard to feed the poor at a soup kitchen, but they aren't the ones getting all of the perks. Feeding children is the one program I think makes sense, but forcing them to take every choice, knowing they will toss it, is absurd. There is a move in Chicago to get internet now into every home. Crazy.

No, no hand outs that simplistic and yes, sounds like you have a GOP mailer.....there is a process, though often more liberal in some areas, less so in others.........depends on interprestation at county level....most heads are rather liberal.....interestingly, all those social programs got increased funding during the Bush yrs, and Nixon.....
