  • At least dear friends, let us not dine upon that belled taco,
lest our bowels be rumbled asunder with pestilent odours
that cause such afright to nasal cavities of friend or foe.

O foul burrito, colitis is in thee named!

(exit stage right, with urgency to the WC) ::)

Oh, come on, now, Taco Bell is not the evil place people think it is.  It's cheap, the ingredients are basically wholesome (even though all TB food is the same stuff, just with the ingredients arranged differently), and I've never had any gastric disturbance yet.  It is also Friday-friendly, their bean, cheese, and rice burrito is only a dollar, and two of them will be more food than one can handle.  And as for that meat stuff they have, they've never presented it as 100% beef, and it is mixed with fillers, but add to that, it is tasty.  They've never denied the addition of fillers, and when pressed, they were entirely upfront about it.  It's not enough soy to worry about.  I always felt like it had some kind of lighter, more delicate quality than pure ground beef, and I've always liked it.  (Now if they would just bring back the Bellbeefer.)

I've been leaning more lately towards rice and beans in my diet --- combined, they make a full protein --- along with eggs, which, while drastically increased in price, were cheap to begin with, so it's not as though it wipes out one's food budget, they're easy to fix and very versatile.  You do not have to spend huge sums of money to eat well.  My big meal of the day is breakfast, usually eggs, hash browns (air fryer) or sometimes grits instead (you don't want both in the same meal, too much starch), and either sausage or bacon.  After that, I can basically graze the rest of the day.  Very often, supper is just a peanut butter or cheese sandwich with a bowl of soup.

  • Soul food:  chitlins, fatback, necks, fried chicken, fried pork chops, ribs, ham hocks, collards w/bacon, turkey wings, and I'm not even gonna list all the veggie dishes that require meat as a flavoring.

Here, but it's white-people soul food, alas :laugh1:

I was just having a Shakespeare (Not a Bacon!) moment :laugh1:. I like the Mucho BUrrito place that has opened up near home. Good tacos and burritoes and everything else. Muy bien! Very tasty and very good quality!
I tend to eat light myself.

Taco Bell is not as cheap as it used to be though. I tend to go for the chicken stuff as ground beef does not always agree with me.
