Whats the right way for a priest to bless a house?

  • Someone once told me that when his house was blessed the priest went through every room.  When I was present at the blessing of my father's house, the (SSPX) priest only blessed a central area.  I'm trying to figure out why, without asking him, since I'm not sure he'd give me an honest answer.

He knew that my father gave permission for the blessing, but that he didn't want anything to do with it, and didn't even want to meet the priest.  I'm wondering if the priest needs clear permission from the head of the household before he feels he can go through every room when he blesses a house.
What return shall I make to the Lord for all the things that He hath given unto me?

  • You know that every time you say your Rosary in your house that you are calling down blessings on the house?

but a priest blessing would be a special blessing.

Not the same thing at all.  This is more of your pseudo-theological musings.  You're a charlatan of divinity & theology spewing bs left & right.  You've ran up about 4 years worth of posts in less than 1, and newcomers that don't know any better are deceived into thinking you know what you're talking about; and newcomers who do know better probably don't linger on CI long given your numerous posts.

A 5th grader in conciliardom has had better Catechism instruction than you've had.  That's not your fault.  But you should not be authoritatively spewing nonsense left & right.  You seemed to have resigned yourself to learning mode when you was initially un-banned.  But now your full of yourself again.

OK OHCA you win. I will discipline myself to make productive posts and endeavour to learn.
If you are a Catholic you must help me, and pray for me often.

Yes--I will pray for you.  I admire your zeal.  I saw that you down-played your intellect in the other thread.  You just need solid training.  I realize that you know this and that you are seeking it--I wish you well in achieving your goals in that regard & I will pray for you.

Not sure why he would not have gone through the whole house - all the house blessings / consecrations I assisted at we always went through all the rooms - even the bathrooms and basement. But when he consecrates the grounds, he does not go around the perimeter, he just stands in one place outside on the property and does it.

Maybe the priest may have been a bit uncomfortable under the circuмstances.

I also remember a sermon where the priest said: "the blessing of a priest goes through 7 walls" - if so then it's not expedient to do each room individually, but still, I'd want him to do each room.
