Sad, but typical.
The modern woman is wearing pants (skin-tight ones at that) and a typical skin-tight top that was practically sprayed on.

Here is a link about modern immodest trends in maternity wear:

There is some pretty bad advice contained therein, as well.
It is so sad because pregnancy can be pretty uncomfortable, I can't imagine wearing that getup on the right. We are so into comfort these days, I would think the modest option would be the natural choice.

Why would you read a book on this written by Jєωιѕн authors? Note the names.

On the TV news, pregnant women with their bellies painted like mickey mouse, or halloweenish. I say painted, because I hope that is what it is an not tattoos.

The first time I was pregnant, in 1991, I am grateful for the Sears store near me. They had a really nice collection of affordable, classic, maternity wear. Albeit, I was a modern woman then, but the blouses were long and flowing, they had nice dresses, and the few pants I owned then were not tight fitting at all.
By the last time I was pregnant, in 2010, maternity fashions were a complete disgrace. To add to the difficulty, I am now a traditional Catholic and much more modest than I was back then.
I shopped a lot at the thrift stores and found several skirts and dresses that worked well. I was at least relieved for that. Even the maternity clothing at higher end stores is an assault to a woman's modesty.

There's something especially disgusting about immodesty in MOTHERS. Perhaps because one assumes that a mother is more mature, and is about to guide and educate a new young life, so one hopes that a mother will have more virtue than, say, a young single woman.
A mother generally has had longer to grow in virtue, all things being equal. And there are some experiences that should make one grow up a certain amount "overnight" as it were.
Just like many sins are more disgraceful in the elderly than they would be in a 15-year-old.
Which is more disgraceful? An 18-year-old speeding on a motorcycle (30 MPH over the speed limit) or a 65 year old doing the same thing? A 10 year old shoplifting, or a 50-year-old shoplifting?

There's an "intermediate" cover or two:

The woman shown here is already in pants :stare:, although still far from the typical "bossy" combined with "sexy" stereotypes of the modern feminist woman that we see in Mathews' first post.

One thing that you can expect today is that th father will be welcome in the delivery room while in the past the father was outside the delivery room pacing up and down worried.

And he'll take his maternity leave whether there's good reason necessitating it or he's just laying off the job getting in touch with his feminine side too.

Are you in favor of men being in the delivery room or against it? I personally am in favor of it. I am not in favor of other family members being there however.

Yeah I think it can be a good thing for a father to be there, we are of course assuming that it is medically safe for him to be there and there are no serious complications. What if the father panics, or makes the doctor/midwife nervous by talking too much. Then he can be asked to politely leave, so long as he doesn't disturb too much.

Another difference is that when the baby was born the father would hand out cigars. Today, no smoking is allowed.
