  • I went to my first driving school class today and I heard the teacher sin against the second commandment. However I did not say anything explicit against it while I was there cause of anxiety cause of class size. In the future would it be good to say something? This scenario made me think I should send emails before seeing certain people for the first time so I don't have to worry about sins of omission. Also please pray for me to have more courage and for people to stop breaking the second commandment.

Patience is a conquering virtue. The learned say that, if it not desert you, It vanquishes what force can never reach; Why answer back at every angry speech? No, learn forbearance or, I'll tell you what, You will be taught it, whether you will or not.
    -Geoffrey Chaucer

  • The teacher may not even be aware that he is doing wrong. You could make the Sign of the Cross. Not ostentasiously but at least publicly.
Help of Christians, guard our land from assault or inward stain,
Let it be what God has planned, His new Eden where You reign.

  • Every time he says it, in reply, say, “Blessed be the Name of Jesus.”  He’ll either take the hint, think you’re weird, or just annoying.  In any case, he will probably stop.  No need of a sermon, Protestant-like turn or burn lecture, etc.

I tried that but I lack courage in a classroom like that. I used a google voice number to try to tell him.

In a way. When your old and see young people driving you'll understand completely! :laugh1:

  • You could try belting this out when your teacher blasphemes:

    Quote
Thou clay-brained guts, thou knotty-pated fool, thou whoreson obscene greasy tallow-catch!

(Henry IV Part 1. Act 2, Scene 4)

Maybe get extra credit for literature class!
    :laugh1:

Might be better to stick with Myrna, Nadir, & Seraphina's advice if you don't like detention though.

  • Learn the principles of "fraternal correction" from Catholic sources.
"The faithful should obey the apostolic advice not to know more than is necessary, but to know in moderation." - Pope Clement XIII, In Dominico Agro (1761)
