Yes, it would be good if the kids were moving UP -- say, to Catholicism.
But to go from being a southern Baptist -- which is a "fundamentalist" religion (one that actually has beliefs, and morals which dictate your everyday life) -- to being a "mainstream Protestant" where religion is just a hobby, is actually a big step down.
Southern Baptists have a lot of the "natural law" correct -- which is more than most generic Protestants in the USA at least. Now it's true that the natural law isn't good enough -- they need to have things SUPERNATURALLY correct as well -- but if they move further away from the truth by becoming atheists, agnostics, pleasure-seekers, etc. it's hardly something to celebrate.
And I fear that's where most of the kids are going -- come on, let's face it: public schools aren't waking up the Southern Baptists to the truth of Catholicism.
