What Should I do with All of These Divine Mercy Cards?
« on: December 24, 2017, 11:01:30 AM »
Hello,
I have somehow gotten my hands on about several hundred Divine Mercy cards because it came complimentary with a bulk order of Rosaries that I bought. The chaplet was 'condemed' by 2 Popes, and I am wondering what to do with all of these cards. Should I give them to a Church or discard of them? And if I am to discard of them, how can I properly discard of them?

Thank you!
Merry Christmas!:)

I think "Divine Mercy" is a scam so if I was in your place I would trash them. Holy cards are not blessed so there is no issue with dumping them.

Burn them.

Even though it’s a fraud and a scam, it’s still a depiction of Our Lord, problematic as it is. So I would say burn.

.
If you're in Los Angeles County you could get a fine for burning them, since there is a moratorium on burning any wood, paper or other wood product material. They're handing out citations for lighting your fireplace even if it's a gas log fire. No barbecues.
.
So far they haven't made smoking tobacco illegal.
.
But ironically, come January 1st, marijuana will become legal, so I guess you won't be fined for burning that. Go figure.
.
To be safe, I'd say bury the cards with some lye mixed in. If you don't have any lye then sprinkle Liquid Plumber or the like on them. Bury them deep enough so your dog won't dig them up!
