I was wondering what would happen if a bishop decided to recognize, allow and support the sspx in his diocese? What if he just decided to incorporate them into his diocese? What could anyone really do about it now that bishops seem to be able to do whatever they want to?

They could "promote" him to papal nuncio somewhere and replace him with another bishop who will toe the line.

But honestly, is there a Conciliar bishop anywhere in the world who would want to do such a thing?

Not if they wanted to keep their heads.
We may have cars and mortgages, but this is still the wild west. And people here defend nothing so vigorously as they defend their faith.

I've also noticed that the diocesan latin masses are jam packed. You can rarely get through the door. Go to a NO, and you can have any seat you want...

Might be off topic, but I know a retired bishop who says of the SSPX
"they are a very respectable order within the church".

The bishop who replaced him says there is no demand for a latin mass down here, but he also never bothered to ask anyone or advertize one. There is supposed to be one once a year, and i am told it gets people from all over to come to it.

You speak of what IF the dioscese recognised the SSPX, but what about a compromise.
Why not ask a bishop nicely if we can have a latin mass in the church, someone might allow it.

I dont think there is much point down here where i am because this parish is very liberal.

that is right. NO bishops don't care as long as the money comes with the people in the pews. IF a NO bishop says, SSPX are within the church, then I would be suspicious of the SSPX in that dioceses. It is like the catholic clergy who get along with Fɾҽҽmαsσɳɾყ at pancake and steak dinners.

I am surprised that the TLM is packed, where are you? I also live in the SW, Phoenix AZ actually, and I have not heard of people here defending the faith with vigor.

I heard of a bishop in Thailand who was considered too sympathetic to the SSPX. He has since been forced to resign.
