Lazarus was banned for dogmatic sedevacantism.

It seems like I have to do this once in a while -- namely, ban a dogmatic sedevacantist. But the funny thing is: It might be the same guy, or the same 2 guys. I keep acting according to my same principles, and keep doing the same thing. But wouldn't it be funny if it were the same guy (or maybe the same 3 guys) getting banned?

As for the posts they leave behind, BY DEFAULT I am always inclined to keep them. I don't like to "swiss cheese" the forum. It makes it harder to follow a thread when posts get deleted from it; it's jarring and breaks the flow. But when I realize/learn that a banned user was here to proselytize, then I consider their posts to be dangerous and propaganda. So I get out my script that deletes all their posts. That way, they WASTED THEIR TIME with all their rhetoric and arguments, since it was ALL FOR NOTHING. This is done to discourage them to come back, as well as others like them!

If I decide you're here to proselytize (like a missionary making converts in a pagan land, or a "missionary territory"), your past posts will ALL be retroactively deleted. I'll do it again. And again. And again.

It's right there in the rules, stated EXPLICITLY -- "CathInfo isn't missionary territory". To the best of my knowledge, we're all good Catholics here. None of us are going to Hell on account of where we currently attend Mass -- OR our opinions on the Crisis in the Church.

If you disagree with that bolded part, you're not welcome here. There's the door. I don't care what Group you attend or what your opinions are. If you can't co-exist with other Trad Catholics, you don't belong on a forum like CathInfo. You're going to get banned eventually, so you might as well leave now.

As for banned users not appearing in the Member list anymore, that is 100% the opposite of how I would do it. The old CathInfo software didn't do that. But the SimpleMachines forum software does it that way, so I have to accept it. I really hate that "feature", because it reduces the total member count as well. Other forums don't do this, so their member count is higher (since they include banned members in their count). For the sake of apples-apples comparisons, I wish SM forum software did it differently.

Thank you, Matthew, for your countless hours over the last 20 years maintaining this website. It's a wonderful resource for all who use it. Many graces, Im sure, have come to those who would have been otherwise isolated - through the sharing of Catholic truths.

Second this.  Thank you, Matthew, for all the work.

It's easy to complain and criticize, and forget all the time/effort.  Overall, this is a fantastic site.  We're lucky to have it.
