What's Best: Close or Spread Out?

  • Though I'm sure we want to be close to other good Catholics, and there would be the benefit of strength in numbers, is it really best?

Would life get too easy making us soft and complacent if we weren't so spread out?

    What's best for our salvation?

What's best for the conversion of the world? If we all lived in one state, for example, the rest of the world would have much less interaction with us.

Is there more profit in this age from the relative isolation we suffer? Is it that suffering which is of most benefit to the church now?

Is it our being spread out that protects the true faith from being lost due to physical annihilation by our enemies, or the spread of some infectious heresy?

Would our moving to form communities cause too much harm to those who don't want to move (or can't if that's even possible)? Is that their fault/problem?

"Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect."
"Seek first the kingdom of Heaven..."
"Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment"

  • For your consideration: https://catholiclandmovement.info/

Many Catholic families yearn for a return to Christ-centered, productive, land-based living — but it often seems impossible. We offer the network, vision, and support to help make it a reality.
Four Pillars of the Catholic Land Movement

    • Resettlement
The restoration of Catholic rural property through the resettlement and practical support of rural, agriculturally and domestically productive homesteads.

    • Education
The education and training of Catholic laity in the domestic order, agricultural skills and craft traditions necessary to successfully cultivate Catholic homesteads.

    • Fellowship
Cultivating a network of practical, spiritual and intellectual support between those established Catholic homesteads and those seeking to establish or support Catholic homesteads.

    • Glorification
Renewing the time honored traditions of the Church surrounding agrarian life, glorifying the God that gives all good gifts.

Pros and cons.  Would be easier for our enemies to wipe us all out if we were all together.
