Though I'm sure we want to be close to other good Catholics, and there would be the benefit of strength in numbers, is it really best?
Would life get too easy making us soft and complacent if we weren't so spread out?
What's best for our salvation?
What's best for the conversion of the world? If we all lived in one state, for example, the rest of the world would have much less interaction with us.
Is there more profit in this age from the relative isolation we suffer? Is it that suffering which is of most benefit to the church now?
Is it our being spread out that protects the true faith from being lost due to physical annihilation by our enemies, or the spread of some infectious heresy?
Would our moving to form communities cause too much harm to those who don't want to move (or can't if that's even possible)? Is that their fault/problem?
