  • I have recently been invited to two separate N.O. Catholic weddings, and both are on Fridays.  Our parish church only allows weddings on Saturdays.  Is there a reason weddings are performed on Saturdays or is it just a preferred day of the week?

  • I was married years ago during the Sunday Mass. This was unconventional but so am I and my spouse.

I think most marriages are celebrated on Saturdays for convenience. Most people are free from work that day. And priests have Sunday Masses to say.

There is no reason not to marry on a Friday, as far as I know. In the new order meat on Friday is not a problem, so the reception does not need to be vegetarian.
