I know that in the early 80's, Madonna either started this trend of wearing the rosary as a fashion statemtent or made it more popular.

When you see someone wearing a rosary as a necklace, do you desire to take this opportunity to find some way of passing judgment on that person?

Are you trying to find some reason to look down on that person, or to legitimize your intention to think that you are somehow better than that person? Or is it just another way to find something to hate?

That's not what rosaries are for.

I have a friend who wears his rosary as a necklace while he's doing yard work, because at some point, he likes to take a break, and sit under a tree and pray his rosary. Having it around his neck is an easy way of keeping it at hand, and it doesn't get damaged or broken by pulling it out of his pocket.

Just because one person wears a rosary doesn't mean everyone should wear one.

Wearing a rosary isn't necessarily a mark of holiness. But it can be a practical way of keeping one's rosary at hand and available for use in prayer.

As a note, it is wrong to believe that everyone is equal, that is a communist notion. For instance, I doubt anyone here is going to be as great as the likes of Saint Augustine, or Saint Francis. There ARE people who are better than you, and that's a fact of life. But to offset that, there are people who are lesser than you as well.

Of course, if you wish to grow in humility it is probably better to focus on those who are better than you than to take pride in the fact that there are souls that are lesser than you.

You don't need Rosary beads to pray the Rosary.

Wear a Brown Scapular. Have it imposed by a priest.

Although there is nothing objectively wrong with wearing a Rosary,,, Rosaries should be prayed, rather than worn; and like N said, you don't need beads to pray the Rosary.
