If an RV is all you can afford, why not do it? It beats sleeping in a tent, going to a homeless shelter, sleeping in the subway, or on the ground on a piece of cardboard.
Yes, the problem IS getting worse. Homelessness is not just for drunks, drug addicts, and the lazy anymore. It’s not confined mainly to illegals, either, although that has certainly contributed to the problem. People are getting deported and new arrivals are significantly reduced in number, but it has made only the tiniest dent. No way will Trump ever be able to catch and deport all the people Biden’s administration allowed in.
Among the new homeless are seniors, many of whom have worked their entire lives, the disabled who cannot work, older people who’d like to work but can’t find jobs due to age, entire families, some with with two parents, more single women with kids, and the mentally ill. I find it particularly disturbing when I see US Veterans and those who are unwell.
