Someone said he was one of those secret Jews who feigned Catholicism.

Any truth?

I haven't heard that before.

I know Columbus has been called just about everything.

He might have been just what history records him as. It's been a while since I read "Christ the King, Lord of History" which gives you history with a Catholic perspective. I'd have to see what Catholic historians say about Columbus.

They wouldn't be shy about calling him a Jew, if he was one. After all, there was no "anti-Semitism" and no ACLU before 1950 or so.

Hmm, ok.

Although I doubt its true. When Columbus landed he named the locals Indios. But not because he thought he was in India. In Spanish "en Dios" means in God. But since Chris was Italian, his accent made him say "in Dios" when he described the natives and their willingness to listen to the Gospel.

No, he was not a Jew. He was a Catholic, and a devout one.

Yeah, I guess it wouldn't make sense if he was a Jew.

I've been wondering about the "Alumbrados" lately. Its spanish for "illuminated ones" and they were also Jews like Adam Weisthaulpt and his Illuminati.

If there is a historical connection, I can't find it. Perhaps evil minds think alike?
