  • Who here is violent? It is said in the Gospel that the violent will bear away the kingdom of heaven. Are you doing violence? What violence would you not do for the greatest of riches which is everlasting? This is your only chance, don't mess it up. Judge yourselves according to the beatitudes and other counsels of the Gospel, and make it your highest priority to improve where you are lacking.
"Be you therefore perfect, as also your heavenly Father is perfect."
"Seek first the kingdom of Heaven..."
"Every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment"

  • Thank you for posting these thoughts and questions.

I am sad that most people don't seem to want to work on themselves, but I can understand it because it is really hard to admit where we fail or are lacking.

There is a time for all things.

But when did the Catholics start the actual fighting.  No one here on the US soil is actually fighting in a combat war right now.  If the bad guys come to my door.  First we would pray, second try reason, and third we would protect our own.  I think many of you are imagining future conflicts that are not happening right now.

    Prudence is key.

Who is going to organize the army right now?  If everything is so bad, then where are the people banning together to fix it?

It would be a different story, if I lived in Israel, or Ukraine, or any other actual war location.

We can only control the controllables and God will handle the rest.

All this war on paper is exhausting and actually doesn't accomplish much. It really is just brother fighting brother, but don't hear me I am just a nobody woman, who can easily forget all this and go back to my kitchen and wash dishes.

    Quick story:
After class one day when I was 14 I was pushed up against a wall and was threatened to have my face beat in.  Why?  Because I said "You people don't understand" to a group of girls, some which were black.  They thought I was racist.  By the grace of God I said the right things and she let me go.  I wasn't hurt.  By the end of the year, we were at least cordial.  I tell this story, because this is why I believe God has our back.  He is in charge and every situation you are in toughens you for the real battles against demons and yourself.

If the bad guys come to my door, the guns come out first, if they want to reason when it's aimed at their head, fine; if not,  I will pray for them as they bleed out.   My order is the opposite of yours. It is gun first, reason second (maybe), and pray third.  Hopefully your husband's order is the same as mine.

  • Have you ever fought a spiritual battle?  Guns don't work there.

My husband and I didn't grow up with guns.  We don't have them.

Physical violence is not a good answer.  I think guns give you false confidence in yourself.

Every man is not the same some are farmers and some are intellectuals and some are soldiers.

STOP lumping all people into a certain ideology.

Look don't think I am naive.  I have had experiences that have dealt with how messed up the police department, hospitals, and medical professionals can be.  Guns did not get me out of the situations.  God did!  My trust in God did.  Sharpen the right weapons people.  I think the devil has you extremely distracted.

  • We need to understand what spiritual / temporal means...

There is a time and place for everything. This is mentioned multiple times in the Bible. Sometimes violence, (like a just war, cause, self defense) is the right thing to do, due to prudence.

Yes I agree with that.  Prudence is key and  usually God provides what is needed.
