  • What is a viewing? First thought that popped into my mind was a movie or the body of the deceased at a funeral.
Religion clean and undefiled before God and the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their tribulation: and to keep one's self unspotted from this world.
    ~James 1:27

  • It was for a body. We ended up going through the line twice, when my son saw the other young people he knew outside with the daughter, we went through again with them. I didn't know if there was a Catholic behavior there. We did say a prayer in the car.
Ahhh seeing the son's face when someone dear to him approached him as I was driving in...

  • It's over now. I was asking to find out if there is Catholic behavior around the deceased. Do we say a prayer when we walk in, at the body, make the sign of the cross?

  • I assume it was not for a Catholic.  I've only been to two protestant functions and both times I just sat in the chair and prayed for the conversion of those around me, too late to pray for the conversion of the deceased.  I went to both for the benefit of the living and to show my sympathy for their loss.
