  • That is the "Catholic" university I attend. I decided to start a thread on it if anyone would be interested in the expreriences of one who has attended a "Catholic" university.

  • Was it Catholic, or Catholic by name?

  • Well, my university is mainly "Catholic" in name now. It has of course the NOM celebrated on it, but that is not too Catholic. The natural settings of the campus are nice, but the atmosphere as far as events and students going about their business is worldly pretty much, like secular universities I imagine.

  • UIW is probably like most "religious" universities these days. I went to a "Lutheran" school, but those too are often in name only. It was noted by some on campus that the school held all positions when it came to religion. For the son of the Lutheran pastor that wanted a good Lutheran school, he got, "yes, we're that." And then the Baptist steps up and wants a good education without Lutheranism being shoved in his face where he might also find a Baptist service or two and he gets, "yes, we're that too." And then comes the agnostic who just wants a school close to home and doesn't want anything to do with God and he gets, "yes, we're that too."

Obviously, they filled none of these roles well and all of the above parties were eventually disappointed with what they found. I guess the Lutheran was the most pleased because as a good Lutheran boy, he was always open to other's opinions and respectful of their errors just as they were respectful of his.
