  • Give me a break.

Ok, Ms. Baby Boomer, you show me ONE PERSON who gets ALL that stuff, and I'll go to college, take out a 30 year mortgage on my house, and send my kids to public school.

But I'm pretty confident that this is ridiculous nonsense.

Nevermind that these programs are equally supported by (or even created by) Republicans!

Cash for clunkers? Seriously? That was a program to get people to trade in their low MPG vehicle to be destroyed so they could buy a BRAND NEW vehicle with better gas mileage. It was basically a stimulus for the car industry. But nothing to do with welfare.

And how do you draw all these benefits and somehow get unemployment (2/3 of your old wages) as well? Usually it's one or the other.

The only way you get a "welfare check" is by getting Social Security, either through age or disability. Or through TANF which stands for "Temporary Assistance for Needy Families" which is very temporary. In fact, you have to be enrolled in some kind of work training program to even qualify.

Even Illinois (Obama's home state; as BLUE as a state gets!) doesn't give out this much welfare. Not even for a family with nothing. I know this first-hand, from family members who live there. You could be an unemployed penniless widow and you know how much you'll get? Free healthcare (only recently, because of Obamacare) and a few hundred $ a month in food stamps for a family of 3 adults. That's it! No free housing, no free utilities, no free Internet.

Free Internet? seriously? I've never heard of that one, unless you count the public library! hahaha

You can't get Medicaid unless you're disabled, pretty much. I think the threshold for Medicaid is something like $5,000 a year in income. But Obamacare consists in basically expanding Medicaid, so I guess that's a moot point now. Still, some states refused to expand Medicaid, since it's state-funded. Texas, for example.

And since when are we jealous of "Section 8" housing? You need to stop focusing on how it's free, and focus more about what these people get for "free". Have you ever been to "the projects" where these people live? On the plus side, you can buy illegal drugs DAY or night. On the downside, you have people buying drugs all around you day and night! My father used to have to go to these places when he worked in the security industry.

I assure you, Ms. chain-smoking, polyester pants-wearing Maxine wouldn't consent to live in one of these places, even if it were offered to her proud, Republican, middle-class self.

  • A good rant.

May Our Lord grant us a truly Catholic understanding of things.
