    • It's going down to 31 tonight, but the wind chill (a very real thing, for human beings at least) will be 23.
    In a couple hours it will be 77, and "feel like" 77. By the middle of the night tonight, it will feel like 23.
    That's a drop of 46 degrees, and for human beings a drop of 54 degrees!

    P.S. Look at the SCALE in the graph below. Each grade is 20 degrees F!
    That's how much the temperature is swinging. That's INSANE.

    • 50 degree actual temp swings arent too uncommon in some parts of the USA in spring. Cold night air warmed by full sun, or a front moves through which can cause an immediate 20 degree drop followed by much colder temps over the next few hours.

    • Welcome to Alberta. Unfortunately there have been three major. dips in temperature followed by days of above freezing. Rollercoaster weather. I will take great snow over -50 and colder but who knows what is in store waaaayyyy up here at 53N. Very hard on the body are such swings, esp as one gets older and/or has issues of health like unto Kaz bear. When the next polar vortex/Siberian high comes a calling, rest assured Texas will feel it yet again. 

    I want my major winter lest I be discontent. At least it has been a proper white Christmas so that helps my battered psyche. :cowboy:

    • I think that chinook winds have been named that for a long time, perhaps it is an Indian name. It can be well below zero and then warm up to above freezing very quickly.
    And it the plains in the late autumn when the wind changes from blowing from the south to blowing from the north you can watch the temp dropping on the thermometer or if you are outside far from home you get very cold.
