Title: Troubled People Cant Been Seen Online
Post by: bowler on February 20, 2014, 10:01:41 AM
I have "met" many excellent people here on CI judging from reading their postings and discussing points about the ongoing current state of the Church.

If I were only allowed one sentence to describe the situation we have lived with, it would be this:

"And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense" (Romans 1:28)

That, in one sentence is what the post VatII conciliar church world has been all about for all living humanity.

I have also found MANY troubled people here on CI, and it would appear that they represent the majority of the postings (quantity over quality) in threads that do not discuss specific doctrines, in other words in threads that anyone can post their personal opinions.

I've concluded from all of this that these types of people, absolutely need to have a priest to lead them. Yet there are no priests to lead. This point is the killer of Catholic forums and all forums.

In real life, if I were face to face with troubled people, I would likely not even discuss anything with them because I would SEE their real situation. One can see a troubled person by their appearance and actions.

Therefore, I will no longer discuss, or defend myself, concerning any personal opinions of others. In fact, God willing, with His help, I hope that I am not lured again to get involved in blind discussions on the internet altogether.

(P.S.- I posted this on the SSPX forum because that is where I go to find valid priests)

My opinion would be to ask you why you believe that everyone here should post in accordance with what you believe CI should be ?

How many sub-forums are here at CI ? Over a dozen and yet every single post created here has to be in accordance with your criteria or the posters are demoted to being mentally insane ?

Is that where you are headed ?

The point is spelled out in the title: "Troubled People Cant Been Seen Online"

The point is this:

Quote
In real life, if I were face to face with troubled people, I would likely not even discuss anything with them because I would SEE their real situation. One can see a troubled person by their appearance and actions.

Therefore, I will no longer discuss, or defend myself, concerning any personal opinions of others. In fact, God willing, with His help, I hope that I am not lured again to get involved in blind discussions on the internet altogether.

Could you expand and elaborate on this part of your quote ? I think it needs clarifying and would be of some help:

Let's not resort to becoming the internet grammar police.

Bowler has a point. A gentleman started a thread in search of Catholics with mental illness!  He wants to write a book.

I saw that, too. The gentleman (MacGowan by name) gets an A for common sense. This is a target-rich environment for someone seeking volunteers and candidates.

Wishful thinking, ggreg! Plainspokenness gets one no reviews and engenders no sales in today's mass-market nonfiction publishing racket. (Take it from a former insider.) That goes double for censure and rudeness—unless the subject of the book is Nixon or Hitler, of course.
