S2srea, if I may defuse this bomb before it's lit, I don't think Tele said I was trying to be relevant. He said that the French Catholics think they have to be relevant by supporting Marine Le Pen.
By "relevant" I think he means that they want a political voice and are willing to compromise to attain it. Yes, I'd agree that it's disturbing that any Catholic would support Marine Le Pen, as even in America the Republicans at least pay lip-service to being against abortion ( though clearly they aren't, because it is never banned when they're in power ). But you can vote for them at least in that hope. I don't think you can vote for Marine Le Pen in good conscience.
It is that Action Francaise / pro-National-Socialist group that supports Marine Le Pen, the group that I am uneasy with. Most of Le Pen's rhetoric centers around immigration and that is also what concerns these people. Not that the Muslims taking over is good, but you'd think with these people that it's the crux of their faith, just like certain Catholics seem unduly concerned with the Jєωs. They have that state-centered ideology which is more about France France France, than Christ the King. You get the sense that the Church is almost an afterthought for some of these people; and that was always the knock on Action Francaise. Its founder was an agnostic who believed in the monarchy and in Catholic rule, but he talked about it in a very detached way, as if it was good for morals and order only. Just as SSPX is an expression of Abp. Lefebvre, or AngelQueen an expression of Grasmeier, I believe that in some way his influence lives on and makes itself felt even among the young Action Francaise Catholics of today who have things backwards to a certain degree; even if they aren't agnostics. And they certainly idol-worship this Maurras.
I have an extremely uneasy relationship with these people. It is very weird when I talk to them. It is very friendly and polite but you can feel a sort of distance; like politesse through gritted teeth.
The big question is, should Catholics be taking their cues from an agnostic with a state-centered and spiritually gutted impression of Catholicism? My answer is a resounding no; I see the future anti-Christ coming at least partly from this.
The priest I know in France fulminates against all this and against Gallicanism. There is a small kernel of those who get it; but they are against all odds.
A little prophecy: When the Great Monarch arises, he will be faced with a tough decision. He will have such power that he could easily take it all for himself and be like former French kings and appoint his own bishops, etc. To be a Gallican, in other words. But he will instead submit to the Pope, despite the Pope being relatively powerless. His submission to the Pope / Angelic Pastor will defeat the rising Action Francaise faction. However, they will remain in the Church and, once the Monarch and Pope are gone, will begin working again towards their ideal. This will cause the faith to falter, since their version of faith is unattractive and harsh and all about discipline and force, with little love. This will eventually produce anti-Christ; as the twin figures of the Monarch and Pastor will no longer be around to restrain the bad impulses of the people.
