  • They are teaching young women in universities all across the country that 1 in 4 men abuse their partners and that a man who discourages his wife from getting a job outside the home is guilty of "economic abuse."

I had to read this propaganda "Power and Control Wheel" diagram at the university that I go to http://www.ncdsv.org/images/powercontrolwheelnoshading.pdf and I'd imagine that college students almost everywhere are currently being indoctrinated in similar ideas.

They of course include things in these types of charts which are examples of real abuse, but when they mix in made up things like "economic abuse" they deceive the unsuspecting.
"The Blessed Eucharist means nothing to a man who thinks other people can get along without It. The Blessed Eucharist means nothing to a communicant who thinks he needs It but someone else does not. The Blessed Eucharist means nothing to a communicant who offers others any charity ahead of this Charity of the Bread of Life." -Fr. Leonard Feeney, Bread of Life

  • Wow, A to B, this was funny :roll-laugh2:

I used your list to see if I meet the general spec:

What I Want in a Man, Revised List (age 52):

     1. Keeps hair in nose and ears trimmed (Yes!)
     2. Doesn't belch or scratch in public (Publicly, no)
     3. Doesn't borrow money too often (Hmmm?)
     4. Doesn't nod off to sleep when I'm venting  (No, of course not)
     5. Doesn't re-tell the same joke too many times (I've been called on it)
     6. Is in good enough shape to get off couch on weekends (You bet)
     7. Usually wears matching socks and fresh underwear  With baby powder!
     8. Appreciates a good TV dinner (No protestant meals)
     9. Remembers my name on occasion  (Always)
     10. Shaves some weekends  (No grunge look for me)

"Some preachers will keep silence about the truth, and others will trample it underfoot and deny it. Sanctity of life will be held in derision even by those who outwardly profess it, for in those days Our Lord Jesus Christ will send them not a true Pastor but a destroyer."  St. Francis of Assisi

As for the girl who is obsessed with you... If she looks up to you and your friend THAT much perhaps God has allowed this for a reason.  Maybe you could do her some good and help her become the sort of woman you might want her to be?  Then, even if it is not meant for you both to be a couple you would have at least helped her for her future husband?  No one is perfect and everyone has their faults. I have friends whose changed and became better Catholics because of their spouses.

She does not look up to us. She wants to control since my friend and I appear meek. She sort of ordered me to go with her to get something her parents' vehicle one time and got mad afterwhile when I would not see her anymore later at the shop her mother did business. I did not like also how she treated her sister and was not very responsive to something I was saying about current events. Another friend did not know who she was at first and could already tell something was off about her. She even tried contacting through my email it seems three times. This problem has been going on for pver six years, and it gets pretty annoying. Recently, after I left the Communion rail, I ended up passing by the pew she was in and just ended up having her in view as I went by and found her staring at me with googly eyes. That kind of thing has happened before. She should be focused on God and not on me during Mass. She was sort of going for my friend the following Sunday by talking with his mother. I wish she would just get the hint that I am not interested in her.

Have you tried talking to her parents about the situation and having them explain these things to her?  I am sure that God is allowing this for a reason, even if you will not understand it until years from now...  Will pray for you and your friend.

  • I have not talked to her parents about that, but I have been advised to stay away from her, which  I have been doing. She should already understand that my friend and I are not interested in her. I think it has to be poetic justice for me because in the past I was like thaf with a girl in high school and one in college.

Thank you for your prayers. :)

God certainly has a sense of humor.  That is for sure!  :-)

Which reminds me of one of my favorite Bible quotes:

"Abraham fell flat on his face and laughed."
