Title: Traditional Catholic Sermons Conferences Talks Audio?
Post by: Santo Subito on November 29, 2013, 09:04:34 PM
This question has probably been asked many times before, but can we start a thread of links to good Traditional Catholic audio/ sermons/ talks? So many of the former links are broken, or no longer around, I thought it would be a good idea to make one list of url's we can go to in order to download good stuff for listening at home, in the car, while doing chores etc.

Thanks!

Traditional Catholic Sermons (http://www.traditionalcatholicsermons.org/index_files/SermonsOnVariousTopics.htm)

St. Isidore audio files (http://www.saintisidore.org/Audio.htm)

Tumblar House audio files (http://www.tumblarhouse.com/catholic-audio.php)

Father Wathen audio files (http://www.fatherwathen.com/radio.html)

Restoration Radio (http://www.blogtalkradio.com/restorationradio)

The Catholic Hour (http://catholichour.org/?page_id=531)

I don't claim that these all have material of equal quality but they all some some talks worth listening to.

But that one site is probably the best thing to happen to Catholic audio in my lifetime.

There some precautions ought to be taken when listening (considering the FSSP position of the priests), it has had the most positive impact on my daily spiritual life. I often consider the words of St. Pius X on daily spiritual reading and think, in our day and age, daily 'listening' to spiritual sermons, be it by saints of times pasts or sermons from traditional priests today, is an adequate substitute. There are studies on cognition which have shown that listening to audio-books carries near-identical benefits to reading.

.

I agree -- listening to audio books carries a lot of benefits, especially when they are READ WELL.  When you get a very good reader, the book comes alive.

The only advantage of reading the book yourself is you can go back and re-read something that you have found wasn't clear enough, and it's very fast to find it, whereas with audio books, going back for one little thing is frustrating, especially when that one thing was mispronounced or the volume was too weak to hear easily.

Plus -- with a paper book you can write in the margins!!   :surprised:
