  • Can we start a thread linking all of the traditional Catholic message boards and chat boards that are out there?

By "traditional Catholic" I mean boards where every manner of Catholic Apologetics can be discussed. It doesn't matter if the board is run by the SSPX, the CMRI, sedevacantist independents, or the local Newchurch diocese -- just so long as anything Catholic can be discussed, and that anyonee who is a traditional Catholic is welcome to post his views and engage in civil debate.

This means that Angelqueen does not count - if you aren't "in" with the moderator's view of what constitutes Catholicism, you can't post. They have some nasty uncharitable methods, too, like revealing your registration and Ip address etc.

Well, as it turns out now I was just censored on Fisheaters. I have known for some time that Fisheaters.com is a site that has a lot of half-truths about Catholicism, that is unwelcoming to certain traditional Catholics, that avoids logic, etc, but it's news to me that they are uncharitable and hostile to Catholics. I wasn't causing a fight. I wasn't yelling at anyone. But they censored posts about traditional Catholic writers, about things that Lefebvre said, and about my calling attention to the non-logic of their purported statement of purpose.

    It's a mess.

So where can a traditional Catholic post without being thrown out in the cold?

Where can ALL matters of Catholic Apologetics be debated?

Where is Catholic charity practiced online?

It's clear to me that any site that disallows certain aspects of Apologetics, is not a Catholic site.

It has never been more obvious.

The Church is a tiny voice in the wilderness.

  • Welcome, welcome, Veribus.  I think you have found the site.  I don't go site hopping, so I don't know about others, but I left FE for what I felt was good reason.  In fact, basically the same reason you complain about.  Chant has asked only two things of us here--no blasphemy and no bad language.   Which we all agree with.  And we explore EVERYTHING, my friend.  It flies or it doesn't, but no one bashes anyone.  Even Vandaler acted the gentleman here, to my surprise, because he didn't on FE.

So I would say, go for it.  My plate is full or I would help you.  And if I run across something that fits what you are doing, I will drag it back here.  How is that?

Though, I have to confess, I rather like Fisheaters. There's a lot of it though, so I'm sure to have missed any fisticuffs on it! Angelqueen is too big to get a real feel for the place.

  • When it comes to Catholic fora, there are probably the greatest number if you are looking for the "mainstream Catholic" Novus Ordo variety.

On such fora, even being a conservative makes you feel a bit weird (preferring some Latin, Gregorian chant, reverence in worship, etc.)

I tried such message boards myself, and they weren't very satisfying since I felt so alone, and ANYTHING smacking of discussion of the SSPX, etc. was locked (with the moderator getting the last word, of course). That's why I gave them up. I wasn't going to bother, if I couldn't be sure that my post wouldn't get deleted. Why spend a half hour composing a post if some brainwashed moderator is going to just delete it on a whim?

I am referring to www.catholic.org here. I'm sure there are many others, but I haven't been looking for groups like that. The average Catholic is VERY ignorant about the Faith (nevermind how to live a Catholic life), so I would be outnumbered (and lonely) on any such message board.

    In Christ,

    Matthew

  • I think ldybraveheart is battling some of that ignorance on such forums.  I have become burnt out on the deliberately blind and deaf and prefer to deal with people who are looking for the truth.

  • You are correct Trinity. That is what my daughter is doing on the "Catholic" homeschool board BOL. She has met some good traditional young people. And, she has had some interesting conversations. She is trying to get the liberal minded to realize that we had Popes before John Paul II and instead of calling everyone names she wants them to pick up an encyclical written by any of the early popes and have their eyes opened. It is more sad than you know, those parents choose to send their children to C.C.D. at their local Novus Ordo Parish and they are so ignorant of Jesus Christ, they would give an Evangelical Protestant a migraine. Really only know that secular, humanistic, Kumbaya religion.

  • Ldybraveheart is young and full of energy and I sure wish her luck and blessings.  We few traditionalists should have lots of young children out there fighting the good fight.  This "social" reign of Jesus is such a crock and so subtle, having the appearance of religion but denying the power thereof.  Very slippery, very had to erradicate in brainwashed cultists.

  • See my other post on the movie The Conflict. The monks in this movie tell Fr. Kinsella (Martin Sheen) just that. Social Justice is not the Churches business, nor revolutions in South America. They tell him that the Church is in the business of conversions and saving souls.

Sorry if this 'offends' anyone, but after observing and participating in the Fish Eaters forum, I've come to the conclusion that it must be run by women.

Well, there it is.   My 3mph brain in this 60mph world sometimes picks up on the obvious.

I dont expect to last much longer over there.  As I was telling another friend of mine, I just fired another broadside into the whole 'Cardinal Siri on Women's Clothing' thread that will probably tick a lot of people off.  Not that that is my goal, mind you.

So be it.  'Niceness' is what got us into this mess.

  • Well, you can't really tell anymore -- since the moderator titles are gone. (Or can you look up the moderators some other way?)

What % of moderators are women?  It would be interesting at least to know.

What difference it makes is another topic, but it obviously must make a difference of SOME kind, since men and women ARE DIFFERENT...

  • The moderators on FE include 4 women (Vox, Sophia, JLeigh, AdoramusTeChriste), 2 men (InquisitorGeneralis, kjvail), and one "Law Dog" who has only ever posted twice. DominusTecuм and LumenGentlemen are no longer on the list which can be seen by viewing the member list and then clicking the "moderators" link near the upper left corner.

And, in case you couldn't figure it out, the Mod here is Chant but that makes little to no difference as nothing has ever been moderated.  :pop:

Any smilie you want can be added. There's a ton free on the Internet. The downside is that it makes the posting screen go on forever. Also, if you remove anything that was previously used, they cease to show up in old posts. But, as you hold the crown around here for most posts, if you'd like to swap some, I'm sure it can be arranged. Personally, I think the Mickey :mickeymouse: needs to be canned.
