  • I did grow up with seafood eaters, like shrimp, salmon & lobster, some of my siblings eat seafood. I have tried it before and even drowned it with garlic & butter and other seasonings & it's just completely nasty.
Why are you so fixated on seafood? Even if you were going (which you are not), you do know that you wouldn't be forced to eat seafood? Or anything at all, for that matter?

No, I wasn't traumatized as a child. Seafood is disgusting. But it sure is weird how you are a heartless person for picking on people who have had a traumatizing childhood, do you think that is a funny thing? weird. Warning for all who are visiting catholic info how some people act here. It's a good thing to fast on a Friday since that is the day Christ was crucified.

If I was a new convert or just looking into Catholicism, I would think Mr. G is weird. Anyways a reminder that it's a good thing to fast on a Friday since that is the day Christ was crucified.

I think Mr. G meant it as a joke not to pick on you or anything.  🤗

And I have actually have had fish head soup...  We went deep sea fishing when I was a child and caught about 22 Spade Fish.  My Mom saved and used almost everything.  I remember dreading Fridays until all the 22 frozen fish heads were gone.  I mean...  Eyes and everything rolling around in a soup...  Ugh...  🤢😅

Yes indeed, it was a joke and was not my purpose to make fun of anyone. Yes it is also true that I am a bit on the weird side at times, but I put the blame on Dr. Demento, especially when it comes to "Fish Heads".

  • Lol...  I don't think most Mexican restaurants serve tofu.

Cheese enchiladas are an option, but that is usually what kids get when they go.  :cowboy:

We specifically thought of Mexican food because there are a LOT of options for Friday.  ::)

    Here are some of them:

    Shrimp Fajitas

    Shrimp and Scallops Fajitas

    Vallarta Fajitas
(Fajitas with shrimp, scallop and fish)

    Arroz con Camaron
    Rice with shrimp

    Tacos de Pescado (Fish Tacos)
Served with lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo

    Tacos de Camaron (Shrimp Tacos)
Served with lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo

    Piña Loca
Grilled pineapples stuffed with shrimp with peppers, onions topped with melted cheese. Served rice and beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole and a side of tortillas

    Fajitas Taco Salad
A crisp, flour tortilla filled with beans and shrimp. Topped with lettuce, tomatoes, melted cheese and sour cream

    Sopa Azteca
Scallops shrimp, sliced mushrooms, fresh garlic, cilantro and scallions

    Vallarta Salad
Grilled shrimp on a bed of lettuce with cucuмbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions and grated cheese

    Uncle Roy's Salad
Bed of lettuce with tomatoes, sliced cucuмbers, sliced avocado and limes with grilled shrimp

    Cancun Salad
Grilled shrimp and scallops on a bed of lettuce with tomatoes, cucuмbers, onions, bell peppers and grated cheese

    Quesadilla Azteca
A giant flour tortilla grilled and stuffed with cheese, mushrooms, shrimp and beans. Served with rice, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo

    “HOT” Camarones Tapatios
Grilled shrimp with chopped tomatoes, onions and fresh jalapeños. Served with beans, rice and tortillas

    Camarones al Mojo de Ajo
Grilled shrimp cooked with garlic sauce. Served over a bed of rice with tossed salad and tortillas

    Shrimp Chimichanaga
A giant flour tortilla stuffed with shrimp, onion, tomatoes and cheese and smothered with cheese sauce. Served with rice, beans, guacamole salad and sour cream

    Shrimp Cocktail
“Our House Recipe” Shrimp served with tomato juice seasoned with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, sliced avocados and lime
    Now I want menudo! Yum!!!

Oh, my goodness!  I just had to look up what that was...  😬

"In Mexican cuisine, Menudo, also known as pancita ([little] gut or [little] stomach) or mole de panza ("stomach sauce"), is a traditional Mexican soup, made with cow's stomach (tripe) in broth with a red chili pepper base. Hominy, lime, onions, and oregano are used to season the broth." (From Wikipedia). 😅

Have you actually had it before?

I remember having Cuban "Pigs feet stew" when visiting friends.  That is the closest I have ever gotten.  😅

HaHa! Yes, many times! It is part of my heritage. I tend to make it without the tripe, though. I make the red chili from scratch which I also use for pulled beef tamales.

  • I'm actually really excited for you all.  Be sure to remind the forum when it gets closer so we can pray for safe travels and such.

  • A bit off-topic but....

Time to grow up! Why waste good food. I remember my mother saying “eat up. Think of the starving children in Africa”. We won’t always be able to be so picky.

This is the MOST Delicious Chicken Feet Recipe I have ever Eaten
