  • Little lambs, why do you keep your God at arm’s length?  What are you afraid of?  Are you so sure that if I take your life today you would be acceptable in My eyes? You would do well to ponder this.  Children, I want you to store up heavenly treasures. I need your cooperation to help me save the lost lambs. Don’t you want to help me? Do you think you love as I do?  Then show me.  How?  Cooperate.  Stop pretending you don’t hear me – stop making excuses.  Where are your priorities? How do you spend your time? What does this tell you?  Be honest with yourselves. Time is running out. Use it wisely.

  • I am just back from saying the rosary in a church. I say it alone and people think i am weird, but God listens to me because I am lonely and poor. I will say it again later and see if I can say 3 rosaries. I write religious things in my spare time. Total misfit who has rejected the world. God understands me.

God listens to you but do you listen to God ?

Do you assume that being poor is a virtue in and of itself. Being poor is not the same as poverty.

  • Actually, crossbro, it should be - poor IN SPIRIT or poverty in spirit.  But you're right - being poor in & of itself is no virtue.  Obviously you could be poor yet hanker after riches.

I made the same mistake, learned how selfish I really was while earning my way to getting the boot from the monastery. You could have a penny or even a rock and that tiny insignificant sole possession could make you the greediest most selfish bastard in the entire world.

Out of arrogance and in consoling my own lack of ambition I fooled myself into thinking that being poor was a virtue.

    Soulguard:

I say the following with what charity I have to offer:  You need to stop exalting yourself.  Whether it is announcing to the boards how you are fasting, how much you pray, how sinful your family is compared to you, how good of a Catholic you are compared to those around you, or even how you are poor (despite the fact that being poor, in it of itself, is not a virtue).  It is poisonous to your soul.

    Quote from: St. Luke 18:10
Two men went up into the temple to pray: the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee standing, prayed thus with himself: O God, I give thee thanks that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, as also is this publican. I fast twice in a week: I give tithes of all that I possess.  And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes towards heaven; but struck his breast, saying: O God, be merciful to me a sinner. I say to you, this man went down into his house justified rather than the other: because every one that exalteth himself, shall be humbled: and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.
