    This is still bad, but at least in overt terms, its not intended to legalize pedophilia.  And while I suspect the left really does want to legalize pedophilia, that isn't really what this law is doing.

    This law is just taking the protections that *already* apply to "close in age" sex and applying those to perverse oral and anal sex acts as well.  "to be fair to gαys."

    Obviously this is super problematic for multiple reasons (A 20+ year old sleeping with a 14 year old should absolutely have to register, ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ sex is worse than heterosɛҳuąƖ and should be treated accordingly, etc.) but the fact remains that it was *already* the case that if, say, a 23 year old had sex with a 14 year old, a judge would have to decide if he was gonna have to register or not.  They're just extending that same protection to oral/anal sex.

    I do think 9 years is way too big of a gap for a Romeo and Juliet law, and ideally speaking, ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ behaviors should be against the law.  But these things were problems before California did this.

    This is very different from say, an 18 year old man with a 16 year old woman.  In fact, the latter can legally marry with parental permission in most states.

    No, this isn't true.  The allowance only applies to 14-17 year olds, with partners less than 10 years older than them.

    Not trying to defend this, but we need to be fair.

    Thanks for clarifying!  You’re right, of course, about 25 and 15.  That would make the case of the middle school teacher having sex with a student something less less than a registration worthy sex offender.  It’s still reprehensible.  
    A case irl is a 14 year old getting pregnant by her 23 year old teacher assistant.  At the time, 1972, the girl’s parents were told there was nothing they could do because 14 was the age of consent in the state.  When they refused to give permission to marry, they ran away to Canada and lived under false identities for five years.  They returned to the US, “married,” and with two children and one on the way.
    Amazingly, this couple legitimized their marriage before a priest and are still together.  They had a total of ten children, eight of whom are living.  This, however, is the rare exception.

    • Children and sex shouldn’t be in same sentence.   Children should be celibate until they enter into God’s marriage.  Catholics need to stop making excuse for twisted laws.  It was thanks to Catholic in name only that there is same sex.  Now they are using the schools to poison the minds of innocent children.
