It seems to me that "sodomite" is needlessly offensive. ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖs are not likely to be moved to conversion by being insulted.

And no, I do not support same sex marriage, open and proud ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ priests, or anything of the sort. I just think St. Francis de Sales was right when he noted that you attract more flies with honey. I expect that is even true of fruit flies.

I expect my reputation is about to plummet to single digits again. Oh, well, it it was nice while it lasted.

The same can be said for the word abortionist or prostitute or murderer. The word simply describes something accurately.

You can make any word sound nasty by the way you say it. You can scream, "You Saint" in someone's face and it can look and sound offensive just as you can use the word sodomite in a charitable way as we are all supposed to.

Lets call a spade a spade. What word do you think St. Francis de Sales would have used? I don't think he would have used same-sex, gαy, or ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ as none of them were around in his day.

True enough. "ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ" wasn't around then, but it is now. It is not much more palatable to the "gαy"advocates than "sodomite".

Your point about the word "abortionist" is well taken. I used to refer to the people who perform abortions as doctors, if I referred to them at all. My son, who is a Byzantine rite priest, suggested that I used abortionist instead, and I have ever since.

I am afraid to ask, but is there a politically correct term for "prostitute"?
