  • I have to attest 100% to this study.   I have noticed a significant difference in myself and in my husband.   Aside from the fact that I am no longer able to sit quietly and keep still (same with my husband), I have noticed that it is harder to concentrate.  Also, my mind wanders more than it ever did when I pray.  I've noticed other things too, but am hard-pressed knowing whether it can be attributed to this monster.

    None of this is good.

  • That is very interesting Alexandria, I know I am easily distracted, but when I sit down to do my watercoloring, I am totally lost in it, almost as if time stands still for me, and everything else is does not exist.

    Do you have any hobbies?
    Please pray for my soul.

  • Ibecame incapable of meditating my rosary.  My poor priest was racking his brain, trying to figure out what could be wrong.  I told him I could no longer think my way out of a paper bag.  Later I found that this diminishment is part of kidney failure.

So, I think, if computers and kidneys (and who knows what else) can effect our brains so, what use are they to get us into heaven?

  • Fresh air, exercise and sunshine, and drinking enough clean water.

And Trin, kidney failure?!?!  What an interesting tidbit!  We need Emerentiana's herbal wisdom here.  Do we know what causes kidney problems?  (and I pray yours are all better)

  • One thing about computers today, they bring information
to us as fast as the speed of light.
Compared to 20, and 30 years ago, I had to wait
    weeks for a newsletter.
From 1967 to 2000, I got most of my Catholic
information from The Wanderer, and the Remnant.
And my saved Catechisms from grammar, high
    school era.
Also, Where I lived, there was the largest used
bookstore on the West Coast in which I purchased
many pre vatican 2 books., Including 2 sets of the
    1913 Catholic Encyclopedias.
    And there was Tan Books.
Most of my lifetime I did not depend on computers.
Only since 2002 when I started out with Web TV.
I purchased my first computer from the Salvation
    Army in 2003.
When you retire your computer, make sure that you
wipe out all your personal information because the
last owner of that used computer did not do so.
Purchased my first new computer in 2005, and it
    lasted only 2 years.

  • I used to find Catholic books in used book stores too, but not anymore.

I am so with you, Alexandria.  "By taking thought"  I can do nothing, but in my pride I used to think I could.  God took care of my delusions.

No, Elizabeth, I am end stage but thank you for the well wishes.  I do dialysis daily and how very tiresome it is.  But it gives me something to offer up, which really helps, because I am so tempted to whine about it.

  • I have noticed scattered thoughts, forgetfulness, loss of memory in the last few years, but I assumed it was because I wasn't getting my nutritional needs met ... but I wouldn't doubt the internet has something to do with it.  I've also noticed that I skim read a lot and haven't been reading books as much.  God Bless, MrsZ
