  • It has always been to me the biggest form of hypocrisy for women to call men who look at pornography perverts and then flip open a page and start reading their romance novel. Your basic romance novel only differs from hardcore pornography in the sense that it has a "love story" behind it. Note of course that this love story has no idealistic value in it, such as a woman getting married and having children, but is about a raw, sex-filled relationship with some "hot guy." Romance novels are the epitome of our modern-day eroticism and that is why I call it women's pornography.

    Romance novels ARE women's pornography.

It's just another of the dozens of ways women are different from men. I always shake my head when I read about a women who says she likes pornography. It really takes a decrepit individual to fall that far outside her nature. But I shouldn't be surprised -- in this day and age, countless women are persuaded to murder their unborn -- should I be surprised if some say "I enjoy pornography myself"?

I wonder how many couples out there allow HER to read romance novels, and HIM to watch his pornography. I'm sure these relationships are always doomed...

  • Well of course they are her pornography.

I think it really goes back to the parenting. If the parents/guardians of the young girl allow her to read, watch and listen to everything the world puts out these days of course her head is going to be filthy and vile.

I just find it hypocritical that romance novels are considered okay since they're "just books" while if a man watches porn he's a pervert. Of course in my ideal society both pornography and romance novels would be banned as being against the common good of creating healthy ideas about relationships.

  • Thank you for this post!  I am 62 yr. old and when I was age 30, I thought, those romance books are so filthy.  Women make think they look educational, reading these books, compared to men and their Playboy magazines, but they are no different.

There are so many of these books floating around, that even thrift stores practically give them away at 4 for a $1.  There are so many of these books that I saw a used book store that was nothing but the so-called romance books.

How sad!  I never thought women could take on such filth!
