  • Where do we find writings on how a female is to behave in the world. Surely there are writings from Pontiffs or someone on how a lady should behave. What is lady like and what is not? I do have books on what is expected from Catholic Gentlemen and we even have a code of conduct on chivalry.

  • What about the saints?  There should be at least one example for any situation a woman finds herself in, whether married, virginal or repentant.

Then again, it seems most of the married female saints you read about had husbands who tested their patience in terms of cheating or not being converted ( I'm thinking of St. Rita and St. Monica ).  You don't hear about many saints who just had to deal with boring domesticity, the daily struggles.  But I think all Catholics are expected to know how to persevere and be patient through that.

As for how to raise kids during the Apostasy, no one can tell you, because no one has been through the Apostasy, so you will have to rely directly on God and aim at sanctity yourself here.  Courage!  I have been praying for you.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • Those are   great ideas. But, what I was thinking was more of an open discussion here. So that, should young women be confused about the proper way a lady should behave in the world, yes in marriage but even out in the world. I think that the ideas here are very fuzzy due to feminism. I have some books that I put somewhere from the Little Flower Apostolate.
I will did them out. Actually, there are three possiblities for us all if I am not mistaken. Marriage, Holy Orders or perhaps someone like St. Catherine or St. Martin De Porres as a third order.

  • In the city where I live the women are corrupt. They are like vipers and they hate children. It must be very hard for good women to live in the world today without becoming corrupted.

Please pray for the repose of my soul.

  • You're right, Dawn, about ideas being fuzzy due to feminism which has done nothing but further demean women and enslave them worse than the enslavement they claimed to want to "liberate" them from.

Tradition In Action website has some articles about this from time to time.

  • Boy I will say fuzzy is a kind term. I wonder how many realize that all of this I am female elder, and therefore wise and should be honored nonsense is really more to do with Gaia worship and nothing to do with being Mary-like.

Someone that is modestly attired and has a good Catholic foundation. That's my description of being lady like.

As for the otherwise, it is someone you frequently see in the everyday world. Sigh...

  •   There is no obligation to have attire and make up outside when you go shopping or walking. It is OK if it is modest, but it is not mandatory. It is enough to be modest and not like a man. Personally, I dislike make-up. But if one day I got married, I will do it out of obedience. (thank God some men prefer women without it)

But why marry someone who doesn't share the same thoughts? I mean at least when it comes on make ups...

As you've said, there are men who doesn't like it, I guess there would be a good chance of your marrying without being disobedient.

  • What about The Catholic Girl's Guide, Counsels and Devotions for Girls in the Ordinary Walks of Life and in Particular for Children of Mary. Edited by Rev. Francis X. Lasance.

You can actually read it here to see if it's what you're looking for.

  • Thanks for the link, wallflower

I actually just heard mention of this book 2 days ago and was looking to see if anyone on a book-swapping site had one available, but I gave up before finding it.

  • Good! I'm glad. It is an inspiring work. It helped me a lot when I was younger and single but it's pretty timeless.
